Louis Treumann
Louis Treumann (born Alois Pollitzer, 3 March 1872 – 5 March 1943) was an Austrian actor and operetta tenor. Born in Vienna, was the son of Jewish merchants. He spent his twenties working backstage and in smaller roles, before achieving his breakthrough in 1902 in Franz Lehár's ' opposite Mizzi Günther. In 1905 he created the role of Count Danilo Danilovitsch in Lehár's ''The Merry Widow, Die lustige Witwe'' (''The Merry Widow''). During the second half of the 1920s he appeared in several films, such as ''Der Rastelbinder'' (1927), ''Flucht in die Fremdenlegion'' (1929), ''Play Around a Man, Spiel um den Mann'' (1929), ''Trust of Thieves, Trust der Diebe'' (1929), ''Katharina Knie (film), Katharina Knie'' (1929) and ''Die Warschauer Zitadelle'' (1930). Kay Weniger (born in Berlin in 1966) is an Austrian writer of books on media issues. He published an eight-volume encyclopaedia on international film people. Biography Weniger is the son of the German stage and film actress and the Austrian stage actor . They left Berlin for Hamburg when he was one year old. Weniger studied the history of art, history and archaeology at the Hamburg University, and gained his doctorate with a thesis titled ''Wiederaufbau- und Neubauplanung in Hamburg 1945 bis 1950. Leonardus Antony Marinus Riemens (3 December 1910 – 3 April 1985) was a Dutch musicologist and cultural journalist. He wrote a book about Maria Callas, and together with Karl-Josef Kutsch began a reference book about opera singers in 1962, which grew to ''Großes Sängerlexikon'', the standard reference in the field. Background and career Born in Zevenbergen, Riemens grew up in a family of physicians in Amsterdam. He studied musicology in Amsterdam and worked from 1931 as a feature editor for the newspaper '. Later he was a member of the extreme-right NSB. During the Second World War he worked for the nazified ''Nederlandsche Omroep''. From 1954 to 1976 he was an opera and television critic for the newspaper ''De Telegraaf''.
