Poliziotto Sprint
''Highway Racer'' (originally titled ''Poliziotto sprint'') is a 1977 Italian '' poliziottesco'' film directed by Stelvio Massi. It was the first collaboration between Massi and Maurizio Merli, who worked together in six titles between 1977 and 1980. The plot of the film was partly inspired by the career of Armando Spatafora, an Italian "flying squad" police officer whose patrol car was a Ferrari 250 GTE. Many car chases in the film, such as bank robbers in a Citroen DS as well as cars rolling down the Spanish steps, mirror famous police chases in Rome during the 1960s. Stelvio Massi (26 March 1929 – 26 March 2004), sometimes credited "Max Steel", was an Italian director known for his "''poliziotteschi''" films. Career Massi entered the cinema industry in 1952 as assistant camera operator, and in 1954 he became a cameraman. Ten years later he began to work as cinematographer, and in 1973 he debuted as film director with ''Macrò''. Orazio Orlando (14 June 1933 – 18 December 1990) was an Italian film, stage and television actor. Life and career Born in Naples, Orlando attended the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome for two seasons, in 1953-54 and in 1954-55, without graduating. He made his debut at 18, with the stage company of Renzo Ricci, along with Giorgio Albertazzi and Anna Proclemer. His first important participation was in Shakespeare's ''King Lear'', in 1955. Titanus Films
Titanus is an Italian film production company, founded in 1904 by Gustavo Lombardo (1885–1951). The company's headquarters are located at 28 Via Sommacampagna, Rome and its studios on the Via Tiburtina, 13 km from the centre of Rome. Lombardo ran the studios until his death in 1951. Poliziotteschi (; singular ''poliziottesco'') constitute a subgenre of crime and action films that emerged in Italy in the late 1960s and reached the height of their popularity in the 1970s. They are also known as ''polizieschi all'italiana'', ''Euro-crime'', ''Italo-crime'', ''spaghetti crime films'', or simply ''Italian crime films''. Influenced by both 1970s French crime films and gritty 1960s and 1970s American cop films and vigilante films, poliziotteschi films were made amidst an atmosphere of socio-political turmoil in Italy known as Years of Lead and increasing Italian crime rates. The films generally featured graphic and brutal violence, organized crime, car chases, vigilantism, heists, gunfights, and corruption up to the highest levels. Marino Girolami (1 February 1914 – 20 February 1994) was an Italian film director and actor. Biography Marino Giorlami was born on 1 February 1914 in Rome, Italy. Formally a Professional boxer, Girolami ended his boxing career when he was 20. Following this, he got a degree as a physical therapist and opened a gym which specialized in therapeutic massages. Girolami entered into Italy Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. Among the people Girolami met was Anna Magnani who took her son Luca to meet him which led to close relationship between them. Girolami gave her the script he had been working on of ''Campo de'fiori'' which was passed on to Aldo Fabrizi.
