Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. In broadcasting, rotation is the repeated airing of a limited playlist of songs on a radio station or satellite radio channel, or music videos on a TV network. They are usually in a different order each time. However, they are not completely shuffled, so as to avoid varying the time between any two consecutive plays of a given song by either too much or too little. When measuring airplay, the number of times a song is played is counted as spins. Stations playing new music typically have a short rotation of around four hours, while stations playing "classics" may go as long as eight hours, with a few stations promising "no repeats" where a song is not played again during a broadcast day to allow a much broader playlist (or if there is a purposeful repeat on that type of station, it ties into a station contest for a prize, such as tickets to the played artist's concert). "Hey Pretty" is a song by singer-songwriter Poe. The song in its original version, on her 2000 album ''Haunted'', was a sultry pop rant of a woman seeking sexual satisfaction on any grounds possible. It was remade with most of her vocals eliminated and replaced with a reading by her brother, author Mark Z. Danielewski, from his hit book ''House of Leaves''. This new version became a moderate radio hit. Getting "Hey Pretty" on the radio was a challenge in 2001 as alternative radio was playing few female-led acts in the post-Lilith Fair backlash. In an interview with MTV, Poe explained the way in which the Drive-By Remix came about: "Radio was not interested. Angry Johnny
"Angry Johnny" is the debut single by Poe, released in 1995 from her debut album ''Hello''. The song received heavy radio airplay, and an accompanying music video was shown frequently on MTV. Background Despite its success and positive critical reviews, "Angry Johnny" was the only commercial single released in Australia; however, a variety of promotional singles were released across the world. "Angry Johnny" was also included on the 1996 album '' Big Shiny Tunes''. Poe mentions Johnny again in her second album, ''Haunted'', on the song "Dear Johnny". Composition "Angry Johnny" has a slow rhythm and, like much of ''Hello'', incorporates layered vocal tracks. The single was produced by Matt Sorum. A "Full Band Version" of the song was also released, which was more acoustic than the album version and heavily featured cello.
