Podkoren 3
Podkoren 3 is a black World Cup technical ski course on Vitranc mountain in Podkoren, Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, opened in 1983. It was constructed by Peter Lakota, a successful Slovenian skier. It has been hosting slalom and giant slalom for Vitranc Cup (Pokal Vitranc) since then. It replaced previous slopes; Bukovniški smuk (1961–70) and old gas station slope (1971–83). With 59% incline at start of giant slalom, it is the ski slope with the steepest part in Slovenia. It is located close to Planica and Rateče (near the Italian and Austrian borders). This slope is considered one of top three hardest giant slaloms in the world, together with Alta Badia (ITA) and Adelboden (SUI). The slope is part of "Podkoren I" section, one of four, right in the middle of Kranjska Gora Ski Resort. Podkoren - Hillside
Podkoren (, german: Wurzen) is a settlement in the Municipality of Kranjska Gora in the northwestern Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. Geography It is situated in the Upper Sava Valley. The Zelenci nature reserve, at the source of the Sava River, is located just west of the village. The Sava Dolinka River flows east from here, to the south of Podkoren. Originally an agricultural area, the local economy today mainly depends on tourism, especially in winter with several ski pistes on the slopes of the Karawanks. The village center lies on the road from Jesenice and Kranjska Gora to Rateče and the border with Italy in the west. Alta Badia
Alta Badia is a ski resort in the Dolomites of northern Italy, in the upper part of the Val Badia (german: Hochabtei) in South Tyrol. It is part of the Dolomiti Superski ski area. It is included in the territories of the municipalities of Corvara, Badia, and La Val. Centered on Corvara, the extended area's lift-served summit elevation is on the Sella group, with an overall vertical drop of to Pedraces. The native language of the majority of the locals is Ladin. Alpine Skiing World Cup Alta Badia is a regular stop on the World Cup schedule, usually by the men in mid-December. Henrik Kristoffersen
Henrik Kristoffersen (born 2 July 1994) is a Norwegian World Cup alpine ski racer, World Champion, and Olympic medalist. He specializes in the technical events of slalom and giant slalom. Career Born in Rælingen in Akershus county, Kristoffersen made his World Cup debut in March 2012 in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, and attained his first podium in November 2013, a third-place finish in slalom at Levi, Finland. Marco Odermatt
Marco Odermatt (born 8 October 1997) is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer who races in giant slalom and the speed disciplines. Odermatt competed for Switzerland at two Junior World Championships and three World Championships. Career At the 2016 Junior World Championships in Sochi, Odermatt won the bronze medal in super-G and the gold medal in giant slalom, which allowed him to make his World Cup debut in March 2016 in the giant slalom at the season finals in St. Moritz. The International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Ski World Cup is the premier circuit for alpine skiing competition. The inaugural season launched in January 1967, and the season marks the 57th consecutive year for the FIS World Cup. This season started in October 2022 in Sölden, Austria, and is intended to conclude in mid-March 2023 at the finals in Soldeu, Andorra. Marco Odermatt and Mikaela Shiffrin are the defending overall champions from the 2021–22 season. The 2023–24 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, organised by the International Ski Federation (FIS) was the 58th World Cup season in alpine skiing for men and women. The season started on 28 October 2023 in Sölden, Austria, and concluded on 24 March 2024 at the finals in Saalbach, Austria. Marco Odermatt and Mikaela Shiffrin were the reigning overall champions from the last two seasons. Odermatt successfully defended the title, while Shiffrin finished the season in 3rd place. Joël Gaspoz (born 25 September 1962) is a Swiss former alpine skier. Career He competed in the slalom and giant slalom at the 1980, 1984 and 1988 Olympics with the best result of seventh place in the giant slalom in 1980.
