2023–24 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup
The 2023–24 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, organised by the International Ski Federation (FIS) was the 58th World Cup season in alpine skiing for men and women. The season started on 28 October 2023 in Sölden, Austria, and concluded on 24 March 2024 at the finals in Saalbach, Austria. Marco Odermatt and Mikaela Shiffrin were the reigning overall champions from the last two seasons. Odermatt successfully defended the title, while Shiffrin finished the season in 3rd place. Lara Gut-Behrami won the women’s overall title for the second time in her career. On 25 October, FIS prolonged the suspension of the Russian and Belarusian national team from competitions due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Marco Odermatt
Marco Odermatt (born 8 October 1997) is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer who races in giant slalom and the speed disciplines. Odermatt competed for Switzerland at two Junior World Championships and three World Championships. Career At the 2016 Junior World Championships in Sochi, Odermatt won the bronze medal in super-G and the gold medal in giant slalom, which allowed him to make his World Cup debut in March 2016 in the giant slalom at the season finals in St. Moritz. At the 2018 Junior World Championships in Davos, Odermatt won an unprecedented five gold medals (combined, downhill, super-G, giant slalom, and team event). Joan Verdú (alpine Skier)
Joan Verdú Sánchez (born 23 May 1995) is an alpine skier from Andorra. He debuted in 2010 and on 22 January 2012 he finished third at the French national championships, and finished third for Super-G at 2012 Winter Youth Olympics. He competed for Andorra at the 2014 Winter Olympics. On 9 December 2023 he became the first ski racer from Andorra to achieve a World Cup podium. Sofia Goggia (; born 15 November 1992) is an Italian World Cup alpine ski racer who competes in all disciplines and specialises in the speed events of downhill and super-G. Petra Vlhová (born 13 June 1995) is a Slovak World Cup alpine ski racer who specialises in the technical events of slalom and giant slalom. Vlhová won the World Cup overall title in 2021 and the gold medal in the 2022 Winter Olympics in the slalom event, becoming the first Slovak skier to achieve these feats. Career Born in Liptovský Mikuláš during childhood, she attended training sessions at Podbreziny ski center in her native Litpovský Mikuláš. Alexis Pinturault () (born 20 March 1991) is a French World Cup alpine ski racer and Olympic medalist. With 34 World Cup victories, Pinturault is the most successful French skier in World Cup history. He represented France at six World Championships and three Winter Olympics, with four bronze medals in the giant slalom. He was the overall World Cup champion in 2021. Beaver Creek Resort
Beaver Creek Resort is a major ski resort in the western United States, near Avon, Colorado. The resort comprises three villages, the main Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch, and Arrowhead to the west. The resort is owned and operated by Vail Resorts which operates multiple additional resorts. Beaver Creek is a regular host of World Cup events, usually in early December.
