The Road-rail bridge of Pocinho, commonly known as Pocinho Bridge, is a road-rail bridge in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, Portugal. The structure was part of the now defunct rail network Sabor line, and is now closed to both types of transit. Sabor Line
The Sabor line ''(Linha do Sabor)'' was a railway in north-east Portugal. It ran for nearly 106 km between Pocinho and Duas Igrejas, near Miranda do Douro. It closed in 1988. History The Sabor line served a very rural part of the country, following the Sabor river for part of its route. Construction of the line was partly intended to promote economic development in one of the most economically disadvantaged parts of Portugal, as well as to serve the iron ore mines at Rebordelo. The line was built by CF de Estado (State Railways), but became part of Comboios de Portugal, CP in 1947. In common with the other narrow gauge railways leading from the Douro Valley, the Sabor line was built with metre gauge tracks. Douro
The Douro (, , ; es, Duero ; la, Durius) is the highest-flow river of the Iberian Peninsula. It rises near Duruelo de la Sierra in Soria Province, central Spain, meanders south briefly then flows generally west through the north-west part of central Spain and into northern Portugal, to its mouth at Porto, the second largest city of Portugal. At its mouth it meets the Atlantic Ocean. The scenic Douro railway line runs close to the river. Adjacent areas produce port (a mildly fortified wine) and other agricultural produce. Pocinho Dam
Pocinho Dam ( pt, Barragem do Pocinho, links=no) is a concrete gravity dam on the Douro, where the river forms the border line between the districts of Guarda and Bragança. It is located in the municipality Vila Nova de Foz Côa, in Guarda District, Portugal. Construction of the dam began in 1974. The dam was completed in 1982. It is owned by ''Companhia Portuguesa de Produção de Electricidade'' (CPPE). Dam Pocinho Dam is a 49 m tall (height above foundation) and 430 m long gravity dam with a crest altitude of 139 m.
