Plácido de Castro Futebol Club, commonly known as Plácido de Castro, is a Brazilian football club based in Plácido de Castro, Acre. The club currently competes in Campenato Acreano, the top division of the Acre state football league. Rio Branco is currently ranked fourth among Acre teams in CBF's national club ranking, at 205th place overall. History The club was founded on 3 November 1979. The club finished in the third position in the Campeonato Acriano in 2008. They competed in the Série D in 2011. Plácido de Castro won the Campeonato Acriano in 2013. Format 2020 First Division First stage *The 10 clubs are divided into two groups, in which teams from one group play against all teams of the other group. *Last two teams are eliminated from the competition with the last one relegated to the second division, while the two best of each group qualify to the semifinal. *In the semifinal, the best-placed team of each group face the second-best-placed of their own group in a single match. Abuna River
The Abuna River ( es, Río Abuná, pt, Rio Abunã) is a river in South America. As a part of the Amazon Basin, it forms part of the border between northern Bolivia and north-western Brazil. Plácido De Castro, Acre
Plácido de Castro () is a municipality located in the east of the Brazilian state of Acre on the border with Bolivia. Location The municipal seat is on the left bank of the Abunã River, which defines the boundary between Brazil and Bolivia. It is from Rio Branco by road, or as the crow flies, accessible to weekend tourists from the city via the AC-40 highway. It has an area of , and is the 19th largest in area in Acre. The municipality is bounded to the north and northwest by the municipality of Senador Guiomard, to the east by the municipality of Acrelândia, to the south by Bolivia and to the west by the municipality of Capixaba. The municipality contains the Plácido de Castro Ecological Park, a municipal conservation area that contains 113 genera of trees. An area that held large trees such as Brazil nut, rubber, cocoa and mahogany was destroyed by fire in 2005. Acre () is a state located in the west of the North Region of Brazil and the Amazonia Legal. The Brazilian states football championships are the professional adult male soccer competitions in Brazil that take place between January and April for the Northeast, Central-West, Southeast and South regions. In some states from the North Region, however, it takes place in May or June. Historically, for economic and geographic reasons, such as long distances between the country's main cities, the state leagues were considered the most important championship for Brazilian clubs, especially before 1959, when a regular national championship (Taça Brasil) was first established. Campeonato Brasileiro Série D
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série D (English: Brazilian Championship Serie D) is the fourth division of the Brazilian football league system, and was announced by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on April 9, 2008. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was formed from the split of the Série C, keeping its best 20 clubs and playing double round robin as does the top three divisions. The Série D keeps the same format of the older Série C, but with participation limited to 40 clubs recognized by the state federation. In 2016 the Série D was expanded to 68 clubs, but in 2022 it will be reduced to 64 clubs.
