''Planta'' is the fourth studio album by Brazilian indie rock band CSS (band), CSS. It was released on June 11, 2013. The album was produced by David Sitek. It is the band's first album recorded without guitarist Adriano Cintra, who left the band in November 2011. Critical reception ''Planta'' was met with "mixed or average" reviews from critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, this release received an weighted arithmetic mean, average score of 54 based on 18 reviews. In a review for AllMusic, critic reviewer Matt Collar wrote: "''Planta'' is a frothy, lightly experimental electro-pop outing that retains all of the band's fun, dance party energy. CSS (an initialism of Cansei de Ser Sexy) (, in São Paulo, English lit. "Tired of being sexy") is a Brazilian rock band from São Paulo. The band was labeled as part of the explosion of the new rave scene. Their songs are in both English and Portuguese. History 2003–06: Formation and ''Cansei de Ser Sexy'' (Brazilian album) CSS formed in September 2003, consisting of a group of friends. Their name was taken from a reported quote by Beyoncé, who allegedly declared that she was "tired of being sexy". The band first garnered fame through the internet. Some of its members, like Adriano Cintra, and Wendi Bishop, had been previously known in São Paulo's underground club scene, but not outside of the local alternative subculture. Ana Maria de Rezende Versiani dos Anjos (born 19 March 1983) is a Brazilian film director and musician. She is the guitarist and keyboardist of the rock band CSS. ''Cansei de Ser Sexy'' is the first full-length album by Brazilian indie rock band CSS. It was released on October 9, 2005 by Trama in Brazil, where it reportedly sold 5,000 copies and failed to chart. It was released in the United States on July 11, 2006 on the Sub Pop label, and in the United Kingdom on January 22, 2007 by Sire Records. A limited edition version of the album included a CD-R. The purpose of this was that the buyer could burn a copy of the album onto the CD-R to give to someone else as a gift, paying homage to the effects of digital technology upon the dissemination and popularization of music. Weighted Arithmetic Mean
The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others. The notion of weighted mean plays a role in descriptive statistics and also occurs in a more general form in several other areas of mathematics. Adriano Cintra
Adriano Ferreira Cintra (born 21 May 1974) is a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist and producer, also known as an underground and club celebrity in his hometown. He was a guitarist and singer for the garage rock power trio Thee Butchers' Orchestra, and among his many projects and bands are Ultrasom and Caxabaxa. He was also in the band I Love Miami in his native São Paulo. David Sitek
David Andrew Sitek (born September 6, 1972) is an American musician and record producer, known for his work with his band TV on the Radio. He has also worked with bands such as Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars, Foals, Celebration, Little Dragon, Beady Eye, and Weezer, and produced free jazz-influenced remixes of songs by artists such as Beck and Nine Inch Nails, and has contributed a solo track to the Red Hot Organization ''Dark Was the Night'' charity compilation.
