''Pirtua, pirtua'' is a 1991 Finnish drama movie directed by Visa Mäkinen. The plot consists of a young man fighting against bootleggers in his home village during Finnish prohibition. The movie, which was Visa Mäkinen's first attempt at a serious movie, ended up a box office flop, with only 1,650 tickets sold and caused losses of a million Finnish markka. Mäkinen gave up on making movies as a result. When ''Pirtua, Pirtua'' aired on the Finnish television channel MTV3 MTV3 ( fi, MTV Kolme, sv, MTV Tre) is a Finnish commercial television station. Visa Mäkinen (born 28 March 1945 in Pori, Finland) is a Finnish film director, film producer, actor and screen writer. He has directed and produced films such as the 1983 James Bond spoof '' Agent 000 and the Deadly Curves'' which featured actors Ilmari Saarelainen and Tenho Sauren. Finnish ( endonym: or ) is a Uralic language of the Finnic branch, spoken by the majority of the population in Finland and by ethnic Finns outside of Finland. Rum-running or bootlegging is the illegal business of smuggling alcoholic beverages where such transportation is forbidden by law. The markka ( fi, markka; sv, mark; sign: Mk; ISO code: FIM, typically known outside Finland as the Finnish mark) was the currency of Finland from 1860 until 28 February 2002, when it ceased to be legal tender. The mark was divided into 100 pennies ( fi, penni; sv, penni), abbreviated as "p". At the point of conversion, the rate was fixed at €1 = Mk 5.94573. The mark was replaced by the euro (€), which had been introduced, in cash form, on 1 January 2002.
