Pirelli Star Driver
Pirelli Star Driver was an initiative to support young rally drivers, organised by Pirelli and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). History For the first two years of the scheme, 2009 and 2010, five drivers were selected from four FIA Championships, one from the African Rally Championship, one from the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship, two from the European Rally Championship and one from the Middle East Rally Championship. The driver selection process was conducted by each individual FIA region. The five drivers then competed in six events of the World Rally Championship, driving in identical Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, prepared by Ralliart Italy. The scheme was changed for the 2011 season. 16 drivers were nominated for a global shootout, from which six drivers were selected. They will compete in the new WRC Academy in Ford Fiesta R2s. Rallying
Rally is a wide-ranging form of motorsport with various competitive motoring elements such as speed tests (often called ''rally racing),'' navigation tests, or the ability to reach waypoints or a destination at a prescribed time or average speed. Rallies may be short in the form of trials at a single venue, or several thousand miles long in an extreme endurance rally. Depending on the format, rallies may be organised on private or public roads, open or closed to traffic, or off-road in the form of cross country or rally-raid. Competitors can use production vehicles which must be road-legal if being used on open roads or specially built competition vehicles suited to crossing specific terrain. Rallying is typically distinguished from other forms of motorsport by not running directly against other competitors over laps of a circuit, but instead in a point-to-point format in which participants leave at regular intervals from one or more start points. Jan Černý (rally Driver)
Jan Černý (4 March 1874, in Uherský Ostroh, Moravia, Austria-Hungary – 10 April 1959, in Uherský Ostroh, Czechoslovakia) was a Czechoslovak civil servant and politician. He was the prime minister of Czechoslovakia from 1920 to 1921 and in 1926. He also served as the provincial president (governor) of Moravia in 1918–1920, 1921–1928 and 1929–1939. Jan Černý was born into a furriers family in the small town of Uherský Ostroh, in the east of Moravia (Moravian Slovakia). He attended the gymnasium (a grammar school) in Uherské Hradiště from 1885 to 1893. After studies at the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague – he graduated in 1898 – he began professional career as a state servant (county director) in Hodonín. 2009 World Rally Championship Season
The 2009 World Rally Championship was the 37th season of the FIA World Rally Championship. The season consisted of twelve rallies and began on 30 January, with Rally Ireland and ended with Rally GB on 25 October. Sébastien Loeb won the World Drivers' championship at Rally GB by one point from Mikko Hirvonen, taking his sixth consecutive crown. Citroën secured their fifth Manufacturers' title, Martin Prokop won the JWRC Drivers' championship and Armindo Araujo won the PWRC Drivers' championship. Regulation changes The number of mechanics available per car has been dropped from 12 to 8. Calendar The 2009 championship was contested over twelve rounds in Europe, South America and Oceania. Mark Tapper is an Australian professional golfer. Professional career Tapper is from Sydney, Australia. He trained to be a pro in the early 1970s. He first received media attention during the 1972–73 season. He held the first round lead of the North Coast Open held at Coffs Harbour, Australia. He also had some highlights in New Zealand. He finished third at the Manor Park pro-am event. He also recorded a hole-in-one during the first round of the Garden City Classic. In late 1973, Tapper had the chance to win his first major event at the three-round Hibiscus Coast Classic. The event was held at the Peninsular Golf Club in Orewa, New Zealand. Jarkko Nikara (born 28 April 1986) is a Finnish rally driver. He lives in Saarijärvi, Finland. Career Nikara started racing at the age of 16 in national autocross competitions. Hayden Paddon (born 20 April 1987) is a New Zealand rally driver. He was PWRC world champion in 2011 and won the New Zealand Rally Championship in 2008, 2009, 2013, 2018 and 2021. Career Paddon was introduced into motorsport at an early age, his father Chris being a rally driver, beginning his career competing in karting. He competed in his first rally in 2002, at the age of 15. In 2005, he rolled and burnt his car in Rally Canterbury 2005.
