Pino Rucher
Pino Rucher (1 January 1924 – 16 August 1996) was an Italian guitarist active in orchestral settings and in film soundtracks. Biographical notes and musical career Early life Rucher started playing the guitar when his father came back from the United States in 1933 and presented him with a guitar. His parents decided that he should take private music lessons. After a few years’ study, he started playing in public in his hometown and in Naples and Bari. American influence The presence of American troops in the province of Foggia (and particularly in the area of Manfredonia, Rucher's hometown), between 1943 and 1946 led to Rucher joining several Allied Army's orchestras, where he came into contact with American musical atmosphere and jazz. In 1946, Rucher entered the Carlo Vitale orchestra after coming first in a competition for the position of guitarist at Radio Bari. ''Canzonissima'' was an Italian musical variety show broadcast by Rai 1 from 1958 to 1974, aired on Saturday evening except for the last two editions in which it was aired on Sunday afternoon. Angelo Cinico, best known as Cinico Angelini (12 November 1901 – 7 July 1983), was an Italian conductor, arranger and violinist. "Corde della mia chitarra" ("Strings of my guitar") is an Italian song written by , composed by , and performed by Nunzio Gallo and Claudio Villa. The song is the winner of the Italian national Sanremo Music Festival 1957 where it was performed twice by the two singers and the in the Eurovision Song Contest 1957. Both original recordings of the song are ranked among the top 100 most successful songs in Italy in 1957. Lyrics and melody With live guitar accompaniment provided by Piero Gozo for Nunzio Gallo's version as seen in the Eurovision contest, and with a vocal ranging between light and classical opera styles, the song is a ballad in the ''chanson'' style as well as the opera tones popular in Italy and Europe in the 1950s. Gallo sings of his mixed feelings at seeing a former lover and realising that she is no longer interested in him.
