Pikmin
is a real-time strategy and puzzle video game series created by Shigeru Miyamoto, and published by Nintendo. The games focus on directing a horde of plant-like creatures called Pikmin in order to collect items by destroying obstacles, avoiding hazards and fighting fauna that are hazardous to both the player character and the Pikmin. The ''Pikmin'' series features five main entries, as well as a spin-off. The first two, ''Pikmin'' (2001) and '' Pikmin 2'' (2004), were released for the GameCube and later ported to the Wii as ''New Play Control!'' titles in 2008 and 2009. ''Pikmin 2'' was re-released in the ''Nintendo Selects'' series in 2012. A third installment, ''Pikmin 3'', was released for the Wii U in 2013. The series' first handheld game, ''Hey! ''Pikmin 3'' is a real-time strategy and puzzle video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii U video game console. It is the sequel to the GameCube games ''Pikmin'' (2001) and '' Pikmin 2'' (2004), and was released in Japan on July 13, 2013, and in all other regions within the following month. Shigeru Miyamoto announced ''Pikmin 3'' on July 16, 2008, for the Wii console, later stating at E3 2011 that it had transitioned to Wii U. The game builds upon existing elements of the ''Pikmin'' series, adding more player characters, Pikmin types, and support for Off-TV Play and downloadable content. Pikmin 2
is a 2004 real-time strategy puzzle video game developed and published by Nintendo for the GameCube home video game console. It is the direct sequel to the 2001 game ''Pikmin (video game), Pikmin'' and is the second game in the ''Pikmin'' series. Like its predecessor, ''Pikmin 2'' focuses on exploring the surface of an unknown planet from a microscopic perspective, where the player directs and delegates tasks to a horde of tiny plant-like creatures called Pikmin. The Pikmin can be directed to destroy obstacles, defeat enemies and retrieve objects. It introduces many gameplay mechanics not seen in ''Pikmin'', including the ability to control two different leaders of the Pikmin at once and the addition of new Pikmin types. The game received critical acclaim, gaining aggregate scores of 89.60% and 90 on GameRankings and Metacritic, respectively. Pikmin (video Game)
is a 2001 real-time strategy puzzle video game developed and published by Nintendo for the GameCube. The game was created and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, and is the first entry in the '' Pikmin'' series. The game's story focuses on an alien pilot, Captain Olimar, who crash lands on a mysterious planet and must make use of a native species called "Pikmin" to find his ship's missing parts in order to escape within 30 days. Players take control of Olimar and in directing the different varieties of Pikmin to exploring the game's various levels, overcoming obstacles and hostile creatures, in order to find and recover the missing ship parts. Hey! Pikmin
''Hey! Pikmin'' is an action game in the ''Pikmin'' series developed by Arzest and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS handheld video game console. It is a standalone sequel to ''Pikmin 3'' and is the series' first installment on a handheld console. ''Hey! Pikmin'' was released worldwide in July 2017, coinciding with the release of the New Nintendo 2DS XL – the fifth and final hardware revision of the 3DS. Captain Olimar
is a main character from Nintendo's ''Pikmin'' video game series created by Shigeru Miyamoto. He first appeared in ''Pikmin'' (2001), which led to the development of three additional games; two of them featuring Olimar as the protagonist. Olimar also appears in other Nintendo games, being a playable character in the ''Super Smash Bros.'' series beginning with its third entry. ''Pikmin Bloom'' is a 2021 augmented reality mobile game in the ''Pikmin'' series, developed and published by Niantic. Like ''Pokémon Go'', it rewards players for spending time outside. The player's real-world movements are rewarded with items for Pikmin creatures. Its worldwide rollout began in late October 2021. Gameplay ''Pikmin Bloom'' is an augmented reality mobile game in the ''Pikmin'' series.
