Saukrieg
The so-called Saukrieg ("Pig War") of 1555–1558 was a feud between John of Carlowitz and Zuschendorf and the Bishop of Meißen, John IX of Haugwitz. Weber (1836), p. 120. During the course of the feud, Carlowitz had 700 pigs, belonging to the bishop's subjects, driven away in order to pursue his claims, which explains the rather unusual name of the feud.Ziehnert (1839), p. 214. The ''Saukrieg'' has been described as the last feud "in the spirit of the Middle Ages".Brockhaus (1847), p. 565. In 1555 the brother of John of Carlowitz, Nicolas II of Carlowitz, Bishop of Meißen, died. He was succeeded by Bishop John IX of Haugwitz. Because of the bishop's inheritance, a dispute arose between him and the dead brother's sons, in particular John of Carlowitz and Zuschendorf. The Carlowitzes feuded with the new bishop and hunted him out of his '' residenz'' at Stolpen. A small body of armed men invaded the villages around Stolpen and Wurzen and caused considerable damage. Pig War (1859)
The Pig War was a confrontation in 1859 between the United States and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, United Kingdom over the Canada–United States border, British–U.S. border in the San Juan Islands, between Vancouver Island (present-day Canada) and the Washington (state), State of Washington. Despite being referred to as a "war" there were no casualties on either side, aside from the pig. Background Border ambiguity The Oregon Treaty of June 15, 1846, resolved the Oregon boundary dispute by dividing the Oregon Country/Columbia District between the United States and Britain "along the 49th parallel north, forty-ninth parallel of north latitude to the middle of the channel which separates the continent from Vancouver Island, and thence southerly ...

Pig War (1906–1908)
The Pig War ( sr, Свињски рат/Svinjski rat), or Customs War (Царински рат/Carinski rat), was a trade war between Austria-Hungary and the Kingdom of Serbia in 1906 to 1908 during which the Habsburgs unsuccessfully imposed a customs blockade on Serbian pork. Background In the early 20th century, Serbia was economically a satellite of the Habsburgs, its major export being pork, most of which was bought by Austria-Hungary. When Serbia started trying to evade economic and political control by the Habsburgs and to build links with other countries, particularly Bulgaria, Germany and France, the Hungarian government decided to punish the Serbs with economic sanctions. Specifically, in an attempt to reduce its economic dependence on Austria-Hungary, Serbia began to import French, rather than Austro-Hungarian, munitions and established a commercial treaty with Germany in 1904 and a customs union with Bulgaria in 1905 that ended the sale of tariff-laden Aust ...

The Pig War (poem)
''The Pig War'' (original Latin title: '' Pugna Porcorum'') is a Latin poem written by John Placentius (Jan Leo Struyven), a Flemish Dominican friar, under the pseudonym ''Publius Porcius''. The text was first printed in Antwerp in 1530. The poem consists of 248 dactylic hexameters, every single word of them beginning with the letter ''p''. As such, the poem is a tautogram. The poem is a satirical epic telling of an intergenerational conflict between the corrupt hogs (''porci'' in Latin), who are hogging all the privileges, and the piglets (''porcelli''), who want in on them. Their conflict devolves into open war, and the poet uses pigs to allegorize human corruption, conflict, and revolutionary violence in a simple and transparent way. ''Paraclesis pro Potore'' ''Perlege porcorum pulcherrima proelia, Potor,'' ''Potando poteris placidam proferre poesin.'' ''A Summons to the Drinker'' Peruse the pigs' glorious battles, my drinker! Drinking lets you produce placid poetry. — ...
