Pieter Scipio van Oostende was a 17th-century Dutch explorer and soldier known for his expedition for the Dutch East India Company under the supervision of Governor-General Johannes Camphuys. He led a small army contingent into the inland Parahyangan region in present-day West Java, Indonesia in 1687. The Sunda Kingdom ( su, , Karajaan Sunda, ) was a Sundanese Hindu kingdom located in the western portion of the island of Java from 669 to around 1579, covering the area of present-day Banten, Jakarta, West Java, and the western part of Central Java. Palabuhanratu or Pelabuhan Ratu ( Sundanese for: 'Harbor of the Queen') is a district and fishing town which serves as the regency seat of Sukabumi Regency. It is at the southwest coast of Palabuhanratu Bay, West Java facing the Indian Ocean. It is a four-hour drive from Bandung and up to a 12-hour drive from Indonesia's capital Jakarta due to traffic jams in Ciawi, Cicurug, Cibadak and Pelabuhan Ratu gate, whose residents love to visit the bay 'Teluk Palabuhanratu', once named 'Wijnkoopersbaai' (wine merchant's bay) by the Dutch. Batutulis Inscription
The Batutulis inscription is an ancient Sunda Kingdom inscription dated 1533, located at Batutulis village, South Bogor, West Java. Batutulis inscription is located in the ancient site of the capital Pakuan Pajajaran, ''Batutulis'' means 'inscribed stone', it is this stone, still ''in situ'', which gave name to the village. The complex of Batutulis measures 17 x 15 metres. Several other inscribed stones from Sunda Kingdom also located in this location. The inscription was written in Old Sundanese language. Pakuan Pajajaran
Pakuan Pajajaran (or ᮕᮊᮥᮝᮔ᮪ᮕᮏᮏᮛᮔ᮪/ Dayeuh Pakuan/Pakwan or Pajajaran) was the fortified capital city of Sunda Kingdom. The location is roughly corresponds to modern Bogor city in West Java, Indonesia, approximately around the site of Batu Tulis.
