Pierrefonds-Senneville
Pierrefonds-Senneville is a former Montreal borough in the West Island area of Montreal, Quebec. It was formed by forced merger on January 1, 2002. After Senneville voted on June 20, 2004 to demerge from Montreal and returned to being an independent municipality on January 1, 2006, the Pierrefonds sector was merged with Roxboro to create the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro. Pierrefonds () is a former city in southwestern Quebec, Canada. It is located along the Rivière des Prairies on the northwestern part of the Island of Montreal. It was merged into Montreal on January 1, 2002, and is today part of the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro. History Its origin dates back to the eighteenth century, and is intimately linked to that of Sainte-Geneviève, which was composed at the time of Pierrefonds, L'Île-Bizard, Sainte-Geneviève, Roxboro and Dollard-des-Ormeaux. In 1904, following several previous divisions, the Town of Sainte-Geneviève was split into two new villages: Sainte-Geneviève and Sainte-Geneviève de Pierrefonds. Pierrefonds-Roxboro is a Boroughs of Montreal, borough of the city of Montreal. It was created January 1, 2006, following the demerger of parts of the city. Geography It is composed of the former municipalities of Pierrefonds, Quebec, Pierrefonds and Roxboro, Quebec, Roxboro, spanning the northern part of the West Island. Roxboro was a town on the Island of Montreal. It was founded in 1914, and ceased to exist on 1 January 2002 as a result of municipal reorganization in Quebec.
