Pierre de Charmoy is a South African singer/songwriter. Born in Durban 1 February 1961, An interest in music began from an early age while attending St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg. He had a number 1 hit on the South African charts with his song ''Live On'' in 1983. ''Reaching Out'' 1984, ''You're my Lady'', also featured in the comedy film ''Tawwe Tienies'', ''The long Road'', ''Don't Girls get Lonely'', 1985, ''We'll find a way , Naked Hearts'', ''Fell in love with you for life'', 1986, ''Attitude'', 1990, ''April Rain'', 1994. He won the ''South African SARIE Award'' for best male singer in 1983, 1984 and 1985, as well as ''The Scotty 3M Best Album Award'' prize for “Album of the Year” in 1986 and 1987. South African Music Awards
The South African Music Awards (often simply the SAMAs) are the Recording Industry of South Africa's music industry awards, established in 1995. The ceremony is held annually, usually in late April or May, with the judging process starting in November of the previous year. The nominations are typically announced at the end of March. The winners receive a gold-plated statuette called a SAMA. The show has mostly been held at the Super Bowl in Sun City, with the exception of three years, and broadcast live on national broadcaster, SABC. Miss South Africa is a national beauty pageant in South Africa that selects South African representatives to compete in two of the Big Four international beauty pageants, Miss World and Miss Universe, and also selects another representative to participate in minor international pageant Miss Supranational. Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1970 by Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals) and Roger Taylor (Queen drummer), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), later joined by John Deacon (bass). Their earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock and Heavy metal music, heavy metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as arena rock and pop rock. The Concert in the Park was a benefit concert held in Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa, on 12 January 1985. 22 bands played at the benefit, which was attended by an estimated 125,000 people—of whom about 100,000 had purchased tickets. Proceeds of more than R450,000 went to Operation Hunger, a South African charity founded in 1978. The bands and solo artists who played that day were: The band Bright Blue knew they would not be available to play live, but lead singer and songwriter Rob Levitan wrote a song for the occasion, which was recorded and mixed at the Workshop and Ovation Studios in Johannesburg. Ellis Park Stadium (known as Emirates Airline Park for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby union and association football stadium in the city of Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa.
