Pierre Brannefors
Pierre Brannefors (1962-2019) was an international speedway rider from Sweden. Speedway career Brannefors reached the final of the Speedway World Pairs Championship in the 1983 Speedway World Pairs Championship. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway from 1981 to 1984, riding for King's Lynn Stars and Reading Racers. He was also the 1980 Swedish Junior Champion. Jan Andersson (born 7 May 1955) is a former speedway rider from Sweden. Speedway career Jan Andersson was a leading speedway rider during the 1980s reaching six Speedway World Championship finals in 1978, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1984 and 1985. He was the Swedish champion on four occasions (1979, 1980, 1981 and 1984) and Nordic Champion in 1979. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway riding for the Swindon Robins and Reading Racers from 1975 until 1992. He is regarded as a club legend at Reading. Ullevi, sometimes known as Nya Ullevi (, ''New Ullevi''), is a multi-purpose stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden. Speedway World Pairs Championship
The Speedway World Pairs Championship was an annual speedway (motorcycling) event held each year in different countries. The first competition was held in 1968 and the final competition was held in 1993. From 1994 it was merged with the World Team Cup to create the Speedway World Cup, which held its final edition in 2017. The concept of an international pairs championship was reestablished in the form of the Speedway of Nations, which was held for the first time in 2018. Rules The final was competed between seven national teams, and each national team was represented by two riders. Each pairing rode against each other once. The pair with the highest combined score were declared the Champions. From 1991, a third rider could act as reserve. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to .
