Tuffé is a former commune in the Sarthe department in the region of Pays de la Loire in north-western France. Lexicography is the study of lexicons, and is divided into two separate academic disciplines. Société des observateurs de l'homme, rendered in English as Society of Observers of Man, was a French learned society founded in Paris in 1799. Long considered the birthplace of French anthropology, the society nevertheless dissolved in 1804. History The ''Société des observateurs de l'homme'' was founded on Christian principles by Roch-Ambroise Cucurron Sicard, Louis-François Jauffret and Joseph de Maimieux. The brevity of its existence and relative dearth of records provide scant history, but they did leave traces of their involvement with feral child Victor of Aveyron, as well as the Baudin expedition to Australia. The Constitution of the Society was set at its inaugural meeting in the Rue de Seine, August 1799. The Société des Antiquaires de France (Society of Antiquaries of France) is a Parisian historical and archaeological society, founded in 1804 under the name of the Académie celtique (Celtic Academy). It is now based at the Louvre, in the pavillon Mollien. History The Académie celtique was founded by prefect Jacques Cambry, Jacques-Antoine Dulaure and Jacques Le Brigant on 9 Germinal (French Republican Calendar), germinal Year XII (30 March 1804), with the goal of studying Gaul, Gallic civilization and French history and archaeology. Cambry was its first president, until his death in 1807. In 1813 it changed its name to the Société des Antiquaires de France, after the Society of Antiquaries of London, and from 1814 to 1848 it changed again to the Société royale des antiquaires de France under the Bourbon Restoration in France, Bourbon Restoration.
