Pierre-Ambroise Bosse
Pierre-Ambroise Bosse (born 11 May 1992) is a French track and field athlete specializing in middle-distance running, and in particular the 800 metres event. Career Bosse won the bronze medal in the 800 metres at the 2012 European Championships held in Helsinki. On 18 July 2014, Bosse ran his personal best time (1:42.53) at the 800 metres race at the Herculis meet, a Diamond League meeting held in Monaco; he finished the race in second place behind Nijel Amos of Botswana. Both Amos's and Bosse's times at this meeting were the first and second fastest 800 metre times in the world for 2014; with Bosse running fast enough to be the new French national record holder for the 800 metres outdoors. The men's 800 metres at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics was held at the London Olympic Stadium on 5, 6, and 8 August. Summary Defending champion David Rudisha (Kenya) couldn't recover from an early season injury in time to return. There were no Olympic podium athletes in this field. The returning silver medalist Adam Kszczot (Poland) made an impressive move in his semi-final to get into the final. Nijel Amos
Nijel Carlos Amilfitano Amos (born 15 March 1994) is a Motswana middle-distance runner who competes in the 800 metres. He won silver at the 2012 Summer Olympics, which was Botswana's first ever Olympic medal. Early life Nijel Amos is from Marobela village in the North Eastern part of Botswana. He went to Nyamambisi Primary School in Marobela, Shangano Community Junior Secondary School (2007 to 2009) in Nshakashongwe and Tutume McConnell Community College (2010 to 2011). IAAF Diamond League
The Diamond League is an annual series of elite track and field athletic competitions comprising fourteen of the best invitational athletics meetings. The series sits in the top tier of the World Athletics (formerly known as the IAAF) one-day meeting competitions. The inaugural season was in 2010. It was designed to replace the IAAF Golden League, which had been held annually since 1998. 800 Metres
The 800 metres, or meters ( US spelling), is a common track running event. It is the shortest commonly run middle-distance running event. The 800 metres is run over two laps of an outdoor (400-metre) track and has been an Olympic event since the first modern games in 1896. During the winter track season the event is usually run by completing four laps of an indoor 200-metre track. The event was derived from the imperial measurement of a half mile (880 yards), a traditional English racing distance. 800m is 4.67m less than a half mile. The event combines aerobic endurance with anaerobic conditioning and sprint speed, so the 800m athlete has to combine training for both. Runners in this event are occasionally fast enough to also compete in the 400 metres but more commonly have enough endurance to 'double up' in the 1500m. 2018 European Athletics Championships
The 2018 European Athletics Championships were held in Berlin, Germany, from 6 to 12 August 2018. The championships were part of the first European Championships with other events happening in the United Kingdom. For the second Championships in a row the Russian team did not participate; this was due to the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation by the International Association of Athletics Federations. However, several athletes were cleared by the IAAF to compete as Authorised Neutral Athletes under the flag of the European Athletic Association.
