Pickelville was a small town located near the western shore of Bear Lake (Idaho-Utah), Bear Lake, northeast of Salt Lake City, Utah, Salt Lake City, in Rich County, Utah, United States. It is now part of Garden City, Utah, Garden City. The town of Pickelville was founded in 1879, about south of Garden City. Incorporated town, Incorporated in 1935, the town was named for Charles C. Pickel, who is said to have been either an engineer who supervised the town's Water supply network, culinary water project, or a federal government official who helped secure funding for the project from the Public Works Administration. To further expand the water system, Pickelville merged with Garden City in 1979. Since 1916, the Pickelville area has been home to the Ideal Beach Amusement Company. The Pickleville Playhouse, a community Musical theatre, musical theater, has been in business since 1977, performing a melodrama and a Broadway-style show every summer. Pickleville Playhouse
The Pickleville Playhouse is a musical theater on the banks of Bear Lake (Idaho–Utah), Bear Lake in Garden City, Utah, United States. LeGrande and Betty Larsen founded the Playhouse following their vision of creating a family-friendly theater that would serve as a place to bring generations together. When the Larsens moved to Driggs, Idaho where LeGrande began his practice as a physician, they discovered an old melodrama theater, "Pierre's Playhouse", in nearby Victor, Idaho. After moving to Logan, Utah in 1976, the Larsens built their own melodrama theater. The Pickleville Playhouse was named for the town in which it once resided, Pickelville, Utah, Pickelville. Shortly after the construction of the Playhouse, the town ''Pickelville'' was annexed as part of Garden City. Construction Playhouse construction began in June 1977.
