Phyllis Barnhart
Phyllis Barnhart (December 16, 1922 – February 6, 2008) was an American animator and cel painter. She was best known for her work on the 1982 animated film, ''The Secret of NIMH'' (which was her only credit in an animated film, coincidentally enough). Naomi Phyllis Fowler was born on December 16, 1922, in Levan, Utah. She began her career in animation at the Disney studio during the 1940s, starting on the films '' Fun & Fancy Free'' and ''Melody Time'', at the inking and painting department. She later worked as a freelance assistant animator and cel painter for such classic animation studios as Filmation, Hanna-Barbera, Bandolier Films, Chuck Jones Productions, Murakami-Wolf-Swenson, DePatie-Freleng and of course, Disney. She worked as one of the lead cel painters for ''The Secret of NIMH'' (1982), which was created at Don Bluth Productions. Barnhart's husband Dale Barnhart, died in 1996. An animator is an artist who creates multiple images, known as frames, which give an illusion of movement called animation when displayed in rapid sequence. A background artist or sometimes called a background stylist or background painter is one who is involved in the process of animation who establishes the color, style, and mood of a scene drawn by an animation layout artist. The methods used can either be through traditional painting or by digital media such as Adobe Photoshop. Traditional methods involved painting entire production scenes for a television program or film. Current methods may involve painting primarily background keys or the establishing shot while production background artists paint the corresponding background paintings. Filmation People
Filmation Associates was an American production company that produced animation and live-action programming for television from 1963 until 1989. Located in Reseda, California, the animation studio was founded in 1962. Filmation's founders and principal producers were Lou Scheimer, Hal Sutherland, and Norm Prescott. Background Lou Scheimer and Filmation's main director Hal Sutherland met in 1957 while working at Larry Harmon Pictures on the made-for-TV '' Bozo'' and ''Popeye'' cartoons. Eventually Larry Harmon closed the studio by 1961. Scheimer and Sutherland went to work at a small company called True Line, one of whose owners was Marcus Lipsky, who then owned Reddi-wip whipped cream. Philo of Alexandria (; grc, Φίλων, Phílōn; he, יְדִידְיָה, Yəḏīḏyāh (Jedediah); ), also called Philo Judaeus, was a Hellenistic Jewish philosopher who lived in Alexandria, in the Roman province of Egypt. Philo's deployment of allegory to harmonize Jewish scripture, mainly the Torah, with Greek philosophy was the first documented of its kind, and thereby often misunderstood.
