Bhrigu Phukan
Bhrigu Phukan was a leader of Asom Gana Parishad and a cabinet minister in Government of Assam. He was one of the three signatories to the Assam Accord. Phukan was born on 25 April 1956. He was elected for three consecutive terms from the prestigious Jalukbari constituency to the Assam Legislative Assembly from 1985. Early life He was a graduate of Dibrugarh University. He also obtained Law Degree from Gauhati University. He became closely involved in the students union movement during the university days that catapulted him to its leadership. Dhrubajyoti Phukan ( as, ধ্ৰুৱজ্যোতি ফুকন) is a National Film Award winning musician who has worked as a Music Producer, Music Arranger and Music Programmer in Hindi Films. Widely known as DJ Phukan, he has also worked as a music director for several films. Pranati Phukan (née Chetia; born 24 April 1963) is a former minister, deputy speaker and member of Assam Legislative Assembly. Early life and education Phukan was born on the 24 April 1963 in Sivasagar. She is the daughter of the late Dhamaswar Chetia and Kaushyla Chetia. She is from Salibasa, Dibrugarh. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Gargaon College, Dibrugarh University in 1983. She participated in plays during her student life. Political career Phukan was the Indian National Congress candidate for the Naharkatia seat in 1996, the same constituency her late husband had contested in 1991 but lost to Sashakamal Handique. Anandaram Dhekial Phukan
Anandaram Dhekial Phukan ( as, আনন্দৰাম ঢেকিয়াল ফুকন ; 1829–1859) was one of the pioneers of Assamese literature in the ''Orunodoi'' era who joined in the literary revolution initiated by missionaries. He was remembered for his efforts in promoting the Assamese language. He played a major role in reinstating the Assamese language as the official language of Assam. Early life and education Phukan was born in 1829 at Guwahati in the Dhekial Phukan family. His father Haliram Dhekial Phukan wrote and published ''Asom Buronji'' and ''Kamakhya Yatrapaddhati'' in Bengali and distributed them freely. Nilmoni Phukan ( as, নীলমণি ফুকন; 1880–1978) was an Assamese writer, poet, freedom fighter and politician popularly known as ''Bagmibor'' ( as, বাগ্মীবৰ) in the Assamese literature. Since he shares his name with another Assamese poet, Nilmani Phukan, he is often referred as Nilmoni Phukan (Senior). Phukan was the president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha for two times; in 1944 held at Sivasagar district and in 1947 held at Dibrugarh district of Assam. Biju Phukan; 18 February 1947 – 22 November 2017) was an Cinema of Assam, Assamese actor. He was born in Dibrugarh, India, where he studied in the Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi College, Dibrugarh HS Kanoi College and Dibrugarh Govt boys' higher secondary school Dibrugarh. Babul Phukan (1 May 1968 – 14 December 2013) was a former Indian footballer from Assam. Playing career Early career Born at Chakalibhoria village near Panitola in Tinsukia district of Assam, Phukan came from a football family. His elder brothers Reboti Phukan, Sada Phukan and Rudra Phukan all are state level footballers. In 1982, he started his junior career by representing Assam State Sub Junior team. Piyoli Phukan is a black & white Assamese language film directed by Phani Sarma, released in 1955. The film is based on the life and struggle of a historical character of Assam, Piyoli Phukan, son of Badan Borphukan, who revolted against British occupation. He was sentenced to death and hanged in 1830 at Jorhat. The film is produced by Gama Prasad Agarwalla under the banner of Rupjyoti Productions, Tezpur, Assam. Music is composed by Bhupen Hazarika. Sailendu Nath Phukan (1 April 1937 – 11 November 2018) or S. N. Phukan was an Indian judge and former judge of the Supreme Court of India. Career After passing LL.B. Phukan first joined Jorhat District court then started practice in Gauhati High Court in 1962. He passed Assam Judicial Service in 1963. In 1970 he joined the Government of Meghalaya on deputation and became the Law Secretary and Legal Remembrancer in January 1976. Tarun Ram Phukan
Tarun Ram Phukan (also Phookun, as, তৰুণ ৰাম ফুকন; 22 January 1877 – 28 July 1939) was a prominent leader of Assam. He was popularly known as ''Deshbhakta''. Early life and education Tarun Ram Phukan was born in 1877 in a reputed family of Assam. He was educated in Cotton Collegiate School, Guwahati and Presidency College, Calcutta.
