''Phoenix'' is the first album by the singer-songwriter Vince Bell and was released on July 16, 1994, almost twelve years after Bell was severely injured by a drunk driver. The album landed high on many critics' best-of-the-year lists for 1994. Vince Bell
Vince Bell is a Texas singer-songwriter who has appeared on the PBS television program ''Austin City Limits'' along with NPR broadcasts such as '' Mountain Stage'', '' World Cafe'' and ''Morning Edition''. His songs have been performed and recorded by Little Feat, Lyle Lovett and Nanci Griffith. Early career During the early-1970s Bell became a fixture on the Lone Star music scene. In his hometown of Houston, Texas, Bell shared the stage of Anderson Fair and The Old Quarter nightclub with friends and musical influences Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, both of whom he later called his mentors. By the early-1980s, Bell had begun to carve out a regional reputation for himself. On December 21, 1982, Bell had finished up a day of recording his debut album with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Johnson in Austin, Texas. Robert John Neuwirth (June 20, 1939May 18, 2022) was an American folk singer, songwriter, record producer, and visual artist. He was noted for being the road manager and associate of Bob Dylan, as well as the co-writer of Janis Joplin's hit song "Mercedes Benz". Early life Neuwirth was born in Akron, Ohio, on June 20, 1939. His father, Robert, was employed as an engineer; his mother, Clara Irene (Fischer), worked as a design engineer. Neuwirth first started painting when he was seven years old. He initially studied at Ohio University, before moving to Boston in 1959 when he was awarded an arts scholarship to study at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts. Geoff Muldaur (born August 12, 1943) is an American active singer, guitarist and composer, who was a founding member of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band and a member of Paul Butterfield's Better Days. Career Having established a reputation with the Kweskin Jug Band during the 1960s, Geoff and his then wife Maria Muldaur recorded their first album, ''Pottery Pie'', for Warner Bros. Records in 1968. this album contained his version of "Brazil" (" Aquarela do Brasil"), which became the theme for the film ''Brazil'' (1985) directed by Terry Gilliam. After recording the album, the Muldaurs moved to Woodstock, New York. They separated in 1972, shortly after Geoff Muldaur joined Paul Butterfield's Better Days band. Fritz Richmond
John B. "Fritz" Richmond (July 10, 1939 – November 20, 2005) was an American musician and recording engineer. Richmond was a washtub bassist and was also a professional jug player. Richmond, born in Newton, Massachusetts on July 10, 1939, was a founding member of The Hoppers, a school-chum jug band that played the coffeehouse circuit in the Boston area. Jug band music featured homemade or folk-style instruments such as the washboard (used for percussion), a large earthenware jug used as a wind instrument, and a single-string upright bass fashioned from a broomstick or similar handle, using a steel washtub as a resonator, with the player moving the handle in order to vary the tension on the string and thus vary the pitch of the note created by plucking. David Mansfield
David Mansfield (born September 13, 1956) is an American musician and composer. Mansfield was raised in Leonia, New Jersey. His father, Newton Mansfield was a first violinist in the New York Philharmonic. David played guitar, pedal steel guitar and fiddle in his first band, called Quacky Duck and His Barnyard Friends, which also included two sons of Tony Bennett. Bob Dylan asked Mansfield to tour with him on his 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue tour; he remained in Dylan's band through their 1978 world tour.
