Philippines–Singapore Relations
Philippines–Singapore relations are bilateral relations between the Philippines and Singapore. The Philippines has an embassy in Singapore. Singapore likewise, has an embassy in Manila. Full diplomatic relations commenced on May 16, 1969, when the Philippine consulate-general in Singapore was raised to embassy level. Both countries are members of APEC, and founding members of ASEAN. Relations The Philippine-Singapore Business Council is also present as an organization dedicated to the cooperation of the business communities of the two countries. The council was launched on 13 October 1994 in Singapore. Both Fidel V. Ramos, the President of the Philippines, and Goh Chok Tong, the Prime Minister of Singapore attended the launch. Aside from economic relationships, the two countries also agree in improving tourism and security relationships. The Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore is the diplomatic mission of the Philippines in Singapore. It is one of the 17 embassies and high commissions that operate within their diplomatic compound. The chancery is located at 20 Nassim Road in Tanglin, while the official residence is at 17 Victoria Park Road in Bukit Timah Planning Areas of Singapore, Planning Area. History A Philippine diplomatic presence was established in Singapore in 1966, despite the absence of formal diplomatic relations. Full Philippines–Singapore relations, diplomatic relations between the two countries was established in 1969. The first Philippine diplomatic mission in Singapore was a consulate-general that opened in 1967 along Orchard Road, near the premises of the Royal Thai Embassy.
