The Philippines women's national ice hockey team is the national women's ice hockey team of the Philippines. History The women's national team of the Philippines made their international debut at the 2017 IIHF Women's Challenge Cup of Asia in Bangkok, Thailand. The team was mentored by Filipino head coach John Steven Füglister at the tournament. In 2018, the Philippines competed at the Division I tournament of the 2018 IIHF Women's Challenge Cup of Asia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They finished third place in the tournament ahead of India and behind first placers and host Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates. The squad's head coach for this tournament was Hector Navasero. They improved their finishing in the 2019 edition hosted in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, clinching the Division I title after winning 2–1 over the host United Arab Emirates in the final. The Federation of Ice Hockey League, Inc. (FIHL), also known as Hockey Philippines, is the national governing body for the sport of ice hockey in the Philippines. It handled the formation of the Philippine national team, together with the acquisition of foreign coaches, creating ice hockey tournaments around the country and partnering with different sponsors including SM Supermalls. The FIHL was formed in February 2015, and was later admitted as an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) on May 20, 2016. By July 2016, the federation had gained membership in the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC). The FIHL became a voting member of the POC in July 2020. The tournament took place between 8 March and 11 March 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was the sixth edition held since its formation in 2010 under the IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia series of tournaments. Chinese Taipei's under-18 team won the tournament after winning all three of their round-robin games and finishing first in the standings. History The history of ice hockey in the Philippines began with the ice rinks set up in shopping malls in the country which were initially only used for recreational activities. The film '' Mighty Ducks'' released in the 1990s helped promote the winter sport in the country, with most members of the 2017 national team citing the film as their inspiration in taking up the sport. United Arab Emirates Women's National Ice Hockey Team
The United Arab Emirates women's national ice hockey team ( ar, فريق هوكي الجليد الإماراتي للسيدات) is the women's national ice hockey team in United Arab Emirates. History In February 2018, the team embarked on an International trip to the United States. Their journey began in Washington DC where the team met the Washington Capitals. Their second stop was Chicago, IL. In Chicago the team watched two Blackhawks games, toured the locker rooms, and performed charity work for the community by training the youth players. Fatma Mustapha suffered an injury to the head due to a puck being shot, she did not require stitches and recovered quite fast. From Chicago, they visited Ontario. The team is overseen by the Ice Hockey Association of India, a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. The team was formed in 2016 and currently competes in the IIHF Women's Challenge Cup of Asia Division I tournament.
