The European Poker Tour (EPT) is a series of poker tournaments similar to those in the World Poker Tour (WPT), created by John Duthie, winner of the inaugural Poker Million tournament. It began in 2004 as part of the worldwide explosion in Texas Hold 'em popularity. Since 2011 the EPT has been sponsored and wholly owned and controlled by PokerStars the online casino and taped by Sunset + Vine for television broadcast across Europe. In seasons 1-3, the most significant difference between the competing poker tours was the buy-in and its effect on the prize pool, with the EPT featuring buy-ins about half the size of the WPT. Fedor Holz (born 25 July 1993) is a German professional poker player, originally from Saarbrücken, who focuses on high roller tournaments. He was ranked by Pocketfives.com as the best online MTT player in 2014 and 2015. In July 2016, Holz won his first WSOP bracelet, in the $111,111 High Roller For One Drop, winning $4,981,775. Tobias Reinkemeier (born 7 April 1987) is a German professional poker player from Cuxhaven. Poker Reinkemeier began playing poker in 2006 and started playing live tournaments in 2007 with small cashes. At the 2009 EPT Barcelona Main Event, Reinkemeier was accused of angle shooting professional poker player Roland De Wolfe after calling De Wolfe's river bet. The community cards in order were , while Reinkemeier and De Wolfe were the only players remaining in the hand. As the last player to have either bet or raised during the final round of betting, De Wolfe was expected to reveal his hand first. Raising For Effective Giving
Raising for Effective Giving (REG) is a charity fundraising nonprofit. Its members consist mostly of professional poker players and financial investors who pledge to donate a percentage of their income to selected charities. Philosophy REG was founded based on the view that in order to reduce suffering in the developing world, people in the developed world should donate to particularly effective charity organizations. REG donates to, and recommends, selected charities based on their cost-effectiveness. One criterion in the cost-effectiveness evaluations is how much money the charity requires to save a life. REG's outreach focuses on professional poker players, because it believes that they have strong quantitative skills, making them better suited for REG's messages about cost-effectiveness.
