Philip Davies
Philip Andrew Davies (born 5 January 1972) is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Shipley in West Yorkshire since the 2005 general election. A member of the Conservative Party, he is the most rebellious serving Conservative MP, having voted against the Tory whip over 250 times in the course of his parliamentary career. He has been criticised for " talking out" parliamentary bills not supported by the government and by doing so "kill off legislation he doesn't like". Davies, known for campaigns against left-wing political correctness and feminism, is a campaigner for the men's rights movement. He played a lead role in securing the first International Men's Day debate in Parliament in 2015; the debate has since taken place annually. Philip Hugh Davies FRAS (born August 1950) is a heritage and planning consultant and the former planning and development director for Historic England. He has written a number of books on the architectural and topographical history of India and London. Early life Philip Davies was born in August 1950. He was educated at Tollington Grammar School (1961–68) in Muswell Hill and then at Queen's College, University of Cambridge, where he obtained a degree in history. Career Davies was director of the London region of Historic England from 1997 to 2005 and then planning and development director from 2005 to 2011. He originated and set up English Heritage's buildings at risk programme in London. He now works as a heritage and planning consultant. Phillip Leslie Davies (born 8 April 1959), is a British Labour politician and former Leader of Wirral Council. Education BA (Hons) Politics, University of Warwick, 1978–81; PhD in Public Policy, University of Strathclyde, 1981-85. Philip Thomas Davies (born 19 October 1963) is a Welsh former rugby union footballer of the 1980s and 1990s. He is now an international coach, currently serving as director of rugby at Leeds Tykes, whilst running his own sports consultancy company. Playing career Davies played his club rugby for Llanelli and enjoyed a distinguished 46 cap career for Wales between 1985 and 1995. It was during this period that Welsh packs became far less dominant than in the glory days of the 1970s and Davies, along with David Pickering and Bob Norster, was one of the few class forwards that his side could muster. The mustachioed Davies was a useful addition to the side mostly because of his offensive ability and the fact that he could play either as flanker, number eight or lock forward. Phil Davies is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Biography As a junior, Davies won the boys' doubles title at the 1977 Australian Open, partnering with Peter Smylie. Davies made all of his Grand Prix appearances in local Australian tournaments. Most notable of those was the 1979 Australian Hard Court Championships, in which he made the second round of the singles and was a losing doubles finalist with Brad Guan. He did, however, play Challenger events in the United States and partnered with American John Hayes in the men's doubles at the 1979 US Open. Philippe Davies (born December 12, 1990) is a Canadian retired soccer player. Career Youth and college Born in Longueuil, Quebec, Davies attended Collège Français in his hometown. He played for the under-15 and under-16 sides of Ligue de soccer élite du Québec team FC Select South Shore AAA from 2003 to 2005.
