Phelps Collins
Phelps "Catfish" Collins (October 17, 1943 – August 6, 2010) was an American musician. A lead guitarist and rhythm guitarist, he is known mostly for his work in the P-Funk collective. Although frequently overshadowed by his younger brother, Bootsy Collins, Catfish played on many important and influential records by James Brown, Parliament (band), Parliament, Funkadelic, and Bootsy's Rubber Band. Early life Phelps Collins was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the older brother of Bootsy Collins, William "Bootsy" Collins, whom he encouraged musically from a young age. It was Bootsy who nicknamed Phelps as "Catfish" because Bootsy thought he looked like a fish. Career In 1968, the Collins brothers, along with Kash Waddy and Philippé Wynne, formed a group called The Pacemakers (funk band), The Pacemakers. ''The Guardian'' is a British daily newspaper. It was founded in 1821 as ''The Manchester Guardian'', and changed its name in 1959. Soul Power
"Soul Power" is a song by James Brown. Brown recorded it with the original J.B.'s (plus Fred Wesley) and it was released as a three-part single in 1971. Like "Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine" and other hits from this period it features backing vocals by Bobby Byrd. It charted #3 R&B and #29 Pop. Part 1 of "Soul Power" appeared on the 1972 album ''Soul Classics''. Live versions of the song were included on ''Revolution of the Mind'' (1971) and '' Love Power Peace'' (1992; recorded 1971), but no longer version of the original studio recording received an album release until an eight-minute re-edit was issued on the 1986 compilation album ''In the Jungle Groove''. Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. These contrast with benign tumors, which do not spread. "Groove Is in the Heart" is a song by American dance band Deee-Lite, released in August 1990 as their debut and lead single from their first album, ''World Clique'' (1990). The Horny Horns were a horn section associated with Parliament-Funkadelic and Bootsy's Rubber Band led by trombonist Fred Wesley. The group also featured saxophonist Maceo Parker and Rick Gardner and Richard "Kush" Griffith on trumpets. Vox Ultrasonic
The Vox Ultrasonic or V268 was a mid- to late-1960s hollow body thinline electric guitar. The guitar's body resembled Gibson thinline models such as the ES-335, but otherwise was quite different. The Ultrasonic had no central maple block or set neck, making it more similar in construction to Fender's thinline guitar, the Coronado. The Ultrasonic, like all late-1960s Vox models, was manufactured by the Eko company in Italy. Vox were well regarded as effects box manufacturers and fitted numerous effects into their guitars as well. The Ultrasonic was their high-end guitar and therefore had all available effects built in: distortion, treble/bass booster, repeater, palm-operated wah-wah, and E-tuner.
