Peter And The Wolf (TV Special)
''Peter and the Wolf'' is a 1995 live-action/animated television special based on the 1936 musical composition/fairy tale of the same name by Sergei Prokofiev, and directed by American conductor George Daugherty. It first aired Friday, December 8, 1995, on ABC in the United States. The music for this special was performed by the RCA Victor Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daugherty. The main characters that appear in the animated sequences that intervene the live-action ones, are designed by cartoonist Chuck Jones, who also serves as the special's executive consultant. Plot Annie and her son, Peter, get a very warm welcome by his grandfather, also named Peter, as they arrive at his house. Later, in the dining room, Annie and Peter discuss their hectic daily routine in Los Angeles with the grandfather. George Daugherty
George Daugherty (born 1955) is an American conductor, director, producer, and writer. Current career Daugherty has conducted international ballet companies and most of America's major symphony orchestras, and has continuing guest conducting relationships with the Cleveland Orchestra (with whom he performs both in Severance Hall and at the Blossom Festival), the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic (at both the Hollywood Bowl and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion), the San Francisco Symphony, the National Symphony, the Seattle Symphony, the Fort Worth Symphony, the St. Louis Symphony, the Dallas Symphony, and the Houston Symphony. CityMusic Cleveland is an American chamber orchestra based in Cleveland, Ohio. It was founded in the summer of 2004 to give free concerts throughout the Northeast Ohio area. Composed of professional free-lance musicians from the Cleveland area and beyond, the orchestra partners with community leaders, mayors, council members, and local civic organizations, to expand the audience for cultural events. Sony Music Masterworks (Sony Masterworks) is a record label, the result of a restructuring of Sony Music's classical music division. Before the acquisition of Bertelsmann's shares in the former Sony BMG, the label was known as Sony BMG Masterworks. Its formation marked the merger of the Sony Classical and BMG Classics (including RCA Red Seal) product lines. Gilbert Hetherwick was the president of the label from January 2005 through November 2006, displacing Peter Gelb who was the head of Sony Classical before the merger.
