Peter Zander (actor)
Peter Zander (9 July 1922 – 18 January 2019) was a German-born British actor. Zander was born in July 1922 in Berlin, but emigrated to England in 1933 with his parents. He died in January 2019 in a care home, after succumbing to the effects of a stroke suffered in 2012. ''The Devil's Daffodil'' (also known as ''Daffodil Killer'' or german: Das Geheimnis der gelben Narzissen/ ''Secret of the Yellow Daffodils'') is a 1961 British-West German black-and-white crime film directed by Ákos Ráthonyi. The film was produced in an English and a German version, starring different actors in the lead roles but otherwise featuring an almost identical cast and crew. It starred William Lucas in the English version and Joachim Fuchsberger in the German one. Cast Production The film is based on the novel ''The Daffodil Mystery'' by Edgar Wallace. It was adapted for film by Egon Eis. The screenplay was written by Basil Dawson and Donald Taylor. The German dialogue was written by Horst Wendlandt and . Wendlandt was also co-producer along with Preben Philipsen (both of Rialto Film). Cinematography took place in April and May 1961 in London and environments. ''Mystery Submarine'' is a 1963 British war film directed by C. M. Pennington-Richards and starring Edward Judd, James Robertson Justice and Laurence Payne. A captured German submarine is used by the Royal Navy to trick a German force aiming to intercept a supply convoy. The film is based on a play by Jon Manchip White. Plot ''U-153'' is damaged during air attack in the Atlantic, and its crew abandon ship to escape chlorine gas now leaking from its battery cells. Her commanding officer is overcome by fumes before he can jettison the ship's papers. Due to the intelligence windfall that this represents, the submarine is taken by a British prize crew to be examined and inspected (in much the same manner that befell the real German U-boat later renamed HMS Graph ).
