Peter Wright (born 30 December 1967) is a former rugby union footballer and now coach. Rugby Union career Amateur career He played for Lasswade RFC and Boroughmuir. Provincial and professional career He played for Edinburgh District; and on professionalism in Scotland, played for Edinburgh Rugby and then Border Reivers. International career He was capped by Scotland B once, on 18 February 1989 against France 'B'. He won 21 caps at prop for Scotland between 1992 and 1996, and toured New Zealand with the British and Irish Lions in 1993. Coaching career He now coaches Glasgow High Kelvinside. He previously coached the Glasgow Hawks. Ernest Archibald Maynard "Peter" Wright (24 February 1908 – 13 September 1985) was an Australian mining entrepreneur. He was best known as the business partner of Lang Hancock. After his death, his estate became worth over 1 billion. Early life and education Wright was born in Kalgoorlie to parents who were originally from Victoria. The family moved to Perth at a young age and Wright was educated at several schools, including Hale School. He left school before graduating. Peter Edwin Wright is a scientist, an NMR spectroscopist and a professor at the Scripps Research Institute. He is editor-in-chief of the ''Journal of Molecular Biology''. Wright is from New Zealand and studied at the University of Auckland. He graduated in 1968 with a B.Sc., in 1969 with an M.Sc., and completed his PhD in chemistry in 1972. Peter Wright (21 July 1929 – 17 September 2011) was the Chief Constable of the South Yorkshire Police force from 1983 to 1990. During that period members of the force he commanded clashed with striking miners during the UK miners' strike (1984–85) and were responsible for the Hillsborough football ground in Sheffield on 15 April 1989 when the Hillsborough disaster occurred, where 97 fans were unlawfully killed. Biography He was born in Stockport, Cheshire and attended Edgeley Roman Catholic School and Stockport Technical School. He then served as rating in the Royal Navy for two years before joining Manchester Police in 1954. By 1975 he had reached the rank of Chief Superintendent in the Greater Manchester Police. Company Sergeant Major Peter Harold Wright VC (10 August 1916 – 5 April 1990) was a British Army soldier and an English recipient of the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Peter Wright (1603 – 19 May 1651) was an English Jesuit priest and martyr who has been beatified by the Roman Catholic Church. Early life Peter Wright was born in Slipton, Northamptonshire, one of twelve children. Peter was still young when his father died. He had to work in a country solicitor's office at Thrapston in his home area. After spending ten years with the solicitor he enlisted in the English army in the Low Countries in 1627 or 1628, but finding that he did not care for military life, he deserted after a month and went to Brabant. Peter Donald Wright (January 25, 1927 – August 19, 1989), was a Canadian ice hockey player with the Edmonton Mercurys. Peter Wright (born December 8, 1963) is a former Irish American professional tennis player who played for Ireland in the Davis Cup. He was formerly the head tennis coach at the University of California, Berkeley. Playing career Wright, who was born and raised in Berkeley, qualified to represent Ireland in international tennis as it was the country of his parents.
