Peter Worsfold
Peter Michael Worsfold (born 11 July 1970) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Bears in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the early 1990s. Playing career A Western Australian, Worsfold was taken by Brisbane with the 25th pick of the 1990 AFL Draft. He debuted in 1991 and made ten league appearances for the year, all of which Brisbane lost, but he contributed a goal in all but one them. Worsfold was also part of Brisbane's premiership win in the reserves Grand Final in 1991. He had a career best 26 disposals in a loss to Richmond in 1992 but ended the year on a bad note when he was suspended for six matches after being found guilty of striking Geelong's Ken Hinkley. Worsfold returned to the team halfway through the 1993 season but it would be his last year at the club, retiring having experiencing just three wins in 31 AFL games. South Fremantle Football Club is an Australian rules football club based in Fremantle, Western Australia. The club plays in the Western Australian Football League (WAFL) and the WAFL Women's (WAFLW), commonly going by the nickname the ''Bulldogs''. 1990 AFL Draft
The 1990 AFL draft was the 5th annual draft of Australian rules footballers to the 14 clubs in the Australian Football League. It consisted of the national draft held at the end of the 1990 season, the pre-season draft held before the 1991 AFL season, and a mid-season draft. Clubs receive picks based on the reverse of the position in which they finish on the ladder during the season. This was introduced as an equalisation strategy in response to the increasing transfer fees and player salaries. National draft rules The minimum draft age for the 1990 national draft was 16. Brisbane Bears
The Brisbane Football Club, nicknamed the Bears, was a professional Australian rules football club based in Queensland on the Gold Coast (relocated to Brisbane in 1993). The club participated in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL) between 1987 and 1996, and entered the league as the first of two non-Victorian expansion teams. It was the first privately owned club in the league's history. Its mascot was a koala and its main colours were maroon ( official colour of the state of Queensland) and gold (of the Queensland sunshine). Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year. Ken Hinkley
Ken Hinkley (born 30 September 1966) is the senior coach of the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) and a former player with the Geelong Football Club and Fitzroy Football Club. Early life Hinkley was born in Cobden, Victoria. He spent his youth in Camperdown as the 7th of 10 children. As a teenager Hinkley played for the Camperdown Football Club. Playing career Fitzroy (1987–1988) In 1987 Hinkley made his VFL debut as a forward for Fitzroy in a match against North Melbourne at Waverley Park. Hinkley did not enjoy his time in Melbourne and was approached by Geelong at the end of the 1988 VFL season. Geelong (1989–1995) Hinkley moved to Geelong for the 1989 VFL season and it was at his second club where he played his best football as a rebounding defender. Jon Dorotich
Jonathan Michael Dorotich (born 27 April 1962) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) and for the South Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Known as "Doro" he moved to Carlton in 1986 where he played in the grand final in his first season against Hawthorn. In the following years grand final, he played at full-forward in the rematch with Hawthorn where Carlton won the flag. He played in 132 games for Carlton before returning to Western Australia where he co-captained South Fremantle in their 1997 WAFL premiership win. He played a total of 151 games with the Bulldogs, and won the best and fairest award in 1985. John Worsfold
John Richard Worsfold (born 25 September 1968) is a former Australian rules football coach and player. He was the senior coach of the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) between October 2015 and September 2020. He previously had a long association with the West Coast Eagles as player (1987–1998) and coach (2002–2013), captaining the club to premierships in 1992 and 1994 and coaching the club to a premiership in 2006. Worsfold began his career with the South Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), before being named an inaugural squad member of West Coast on their formation in 1986. The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian rules football club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1986 as one of two expansion teams in the Australian Football League (AFL), then known as the Victorian Football League.
