Peter Witherow
Peter Witherow (born 1987) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Donegal New York and, formerly, for St Michael's and the county teams of Donegal and New York. He is from Dunfanaghy. Witherow was part of the Donegal senior set-up from the reign of Brian McIver onwards and lined out for them in the Dr McKenna Cup and National Football League. He was panel member when Donegal won the 2007 National Football League. He was also a panel member when Donegal won the 2012 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. He played for Donegal Boston in 2008. Witherow moved to New York in 2016 and took up work in a gym, having left the University of Limerick with a master's in sports performance and obtained a graduate visa. Among those to assist him was fellow expatriate Ross Wherity. St Michael's GAA (Donegal)
St Michael's (''CLG Naomh Mícheál'') is a GAA club based in Creeslough/Dunfanaghy in County Donegal. Located in the north of the county, the club is affected by rural issues such as low population and emigration; despite this they play at the top level in the Donegal Senior Football Championship and opened a new clubhouse in 2010. The club colours are red and white. The club plays at the Bridge in Dunfanaghy. The club has a rivalry with Cloich Cheann Fhaola. History The club does not have much of a history. Perhaps the most interesting fact about it is that 2014 European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley used to play for them. Ross Wherity
Ross Wherity is an Irish sportsperson. A Gaelic footballer with the St Eunan's club, he has been a member of the Donegal county team at under-21, minor and senior levels. Known for his tendency not to settle with one team (or even one sport), Wherity has also been in Australia to play Australian rules football, in Poland as part of an attempt to make it at a major soccer tournament and was last known to be playing Championship football for the New York county team. Playing career Club For his club Wherity has played and scored in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship, where his team have progressed as far as the semi-finals. His play for his club has been praised by former Armagh manager Joe Kernan. The Sligo county football team ( ) represents Sligo in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Sligo GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Connacht Senior Football Championship and the National Football League.
