Peter Stuart (bishop)
Peter Derrick James Stuart (born 1963) is a British-born Anglican bishop in the Anglican Church of Australia. He has served as the bishop of the Diocese of Newcastle since 2 February 2018. He previously served as an assistant bishop in the diocese from 2009 to 2018. Following the retirement of Brian Farran on 15 December 2012, until the installation Bishop Greg Thompson on 2 February 2014, Stuart administered the diocese. He resumed administration of the diocese on 1 December 2016 prior to Thompson's resignation as bishop on 31 May 2017 due to bullying. He was elected as the Bishop of Newcastle by the diocesan synod on 25 November 2017 and was installed on 2 February 2018. Stuart was born in England in 1963, emigrating to Australia in 1971. Greg Thompson (bishop)
Gregory Edwin Thompson (born 1956) is a retired Australian Anglican bishop. From 2014 to 2017 he was the Bishop of Newcastle. He was previously, from 2007 to 2013, the Bishop of the Northern Territory. Early life and education Thompson was born in Muswellbrook, New South Wales, Australia. He studied at the University of Newcastle. He trained for ordained ministry at Ridley College, an Evangelical Anglican theological college in Melbourne. Ordained ministry Thompson was ordained in 1986. From 1988 to 1994, he was Parish Priest of Darwin in the Northern Territory. Then, from 1994 to 1999, he was the New South Wales State Secretary of the Bush Church Aid Society. Having returned to parish ministry, he was Rector of St John's Church, Darlinghurst in Sydney between 1999 and 2004, and then Rector of St John's Church in Canberra. Brian George Farran (born 15 December 1944) is an Australian retired Anglican bishop. He was the Diocese of Newcastle (Australia), Bishop of Newcastle in New South Wales. Farran was educated at the Australian National University and St John's College, Morpeth.
