Peter Sarantopoulos
Peter Sarantopoulos (born 2 May 1968) is a former Canadian international soccer defender. Club career Sarantopolous was a two-time First Team and one-time Second Team Canadian Interuniversity Sport All-Canadian with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues. He played for the North York Rockets in the Canadian Soccer League from 1988 to 1992, where he was named a league All-Star in 1991 and 1992. During the 1992 season, he was traded to the Winnipeg Fury. He played for Toronto Blizzard during the 1993 American Professional Soccer League season, as well their replacements the Toronto Rockets for the APSL's 1994 campaign. In 1996, he signed with St. Catharines Wolves of the Canadian National Soccer League. He made his debut on 2 June 1996 in a match against Toronto Italia. With St. Catharines, he won the CNSL Cup and reached the playoff finals, but were defeated by Toronto Italia. The Toronto Varsity Blues is the intercollegiate sports program at the University of Toronto. Its 43 athletic teams regularly participate in competitions held by Ontario University Athletics and U Sports. The 1987 FIFA World Youth Championship took place in Chile from 10 to 25 October 1987. The 1987 championship was the 6th contested and won for the first time by Yugoslavia. A-League Men (known as the Isuzu UTE A-League for sponsorship reasons) is the highest-level professional men's soccer league in Australia and New Zealand. At the top of the Australian league system, it is the country's premier men's competition for the sport. Indoor soccer or arena soccer (known internationally as indoor football, fast football, or showball) is five-a-side version of minifootball, derived from association football and adapted to be played in walled hardcourt indoor arena. American Professional Soccer League
The American Professional Soccer League (APSL) was a professional men's soccer league with teams from the United States and later Canada. It was formed in 1990 by the merger of the third American Soccer League with the Western Soccer League. It was the first outdoor soccer league to feature teams from throughout the United States since the demise of the North American Soccer League in 1984. The league was sanctioned as Division II in the United States soccer league system but was the country's ''de facto'' top professional soccer league until 1995. In 1993, the APSL applied for the vacant Division I role but lost out to Major League Soccer who would begin play in 1996. For its final two seasons in 1995 and 1996, the APSL changed its name to the A-League.
