Peter McCormack (footballer)
Peter McCormack (born 1 August 1956) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the VFL during the late 1970s and 1980s before finishing his career with stints at Richmond and Fitzroy. Peter McCormack (1923 – 16 December 2008) was an Irish sportsperson. A resident of Balla and Ballyhaunis, McCormack was one of Mayo's most notable handballers in former times. In 1951 Peter and his brother Tom won the All Ireland Junior Softball doubles title, an achievement which was celebrated with much enthusiasm and local pride at the time. Pete McCormack (born January 27, 1965) is a Canadian author, filmmaker, screenwriter and musician. He is best known for directing the Academy Award short-listed documentary Facing Ali and the Leacock Award-nominated novel Understanding Ken. He is the creator of the HBO Canada documentary television series ''Sports on Fire''. Film In 2003, McCormack directed and wrote his first feature film, the award-winning ''See Grace Fly'', starring Paul McGillion and Gina Chiarelli. Chiarelli won multiple awards and was nominated for a Genie Award for her role as Grace McKinley, a woman suffering from schizophrenia. In 2006, McCormack wrote and co-directed (with Jesse James Miller) the award-winning documentary ''Uganda Rising'', about the plight of the people of Northern Uganda. Peter David Godfrey McCormick OBE (born 27 June 1952) is an English lawyer. He is the Senior Partner of McCormicks Solicitors of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. He was educated at Ashville College and King's College London (LLB, 1973). He was awarded the OBE for services to charity on 1 January 2000. He was awarded the Order of Mercy, in July 2016, by the League of Mercy Foundation, for outstanding voluntary service. Ranked as one of the top sports lawyers in the country, he is best known as the Chairman of the Legal Advisory Group of the Premier League and Chairman of the League's Football Board.
