Peter Humphreys
Peter Humphreys is a Papua New Guinean politician. He was the Governor of West New Britain Province and the member for West New Britain Provincial in the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea from 2007 to 2012. Humphreys was raised in the Talasea area, the son of English-born plantation manager and former Talasea MP Harry Humphreys. He worked as a businessman before entering politics. He contested the 2007 general election for the governing National Alliance, and faced a difficult race against independent candidate and former Air Niugini chairman Sir Joe Tauvasa and incumbent Governor Clement Nakmai. He trailed Tauvasa on primary votes, but won the seat after the final distribution of preferences. The result enraged some of Tauvasa's supporters, who responded with two days of rioting in the Hoskins area. Peter William Humphrey
Peter William Humphrey (born March 1956), commonly known as Han Feilong () in China, is a British former journalist and private detective, known for his arrest by the Shanghai Police due to allegations that he illegally acquired personal data of Vivian Shi, a Chinese citizen with connections to the Shanghai communist elite. After his release from China in 2018, following two years' detention, he claimed Shanghai was the most corrupt city in China and described the torment he had suffered at Qingpu Prison to global media. The case is widely considered to be one of selective prosecution. General elections were held in Papua New Guinea from 23 June until around 13 July 2012, after being postponed by a further week to allow for security personnel to criss-cross the country, particularly the highland provinces. The Triumph Heritage Empowerment Party ("T.H.E Party") is a political party in Papua New Guinea. It was founded in 2012 by Don Polye, Minister of Finance at the time. As of May 2019, the party has 1 member in the National Parliament. Don Pomb Polye (born 1 February 1967) is a Papua New Guinean politician from Enga Province. He has been a Cabinet Minister under two Prime Ministers, and was briefly Deputy Prime Minister from July to December 2010. He has held Foreign Affairs, Immigration, Transport, Civil Aviation, Finance and Treasury portfolios. Polye was first elected in 2002 to the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea representing the Kandep Open electorate as a member of the National Alliance Party.
