Peter Foggo
Peter Foggo (1930-1993) was a British architect, who headed the team at Arup Associates which designed the first phase of development at London's Broadgate in the 1980s. Foggo joined the Ove Arup Building Group in 1959, and became a partner in the new Arup Associates in 1963. Foggo designed the Horizon Building, a cigarette-making factory on a 45-acre site at the Lenton Industrial Estate in Nottingham for Player's , which opened in 1972, and won the Financial Times Architecture Award for 1973. Broadgate
Broadgate is a large, office and retail estate in the Bishopsgate Without area of the City of London. It is owned by British Land and GIC and managed by Savills. The estate is in part of the eastern City fringe, outside the line of the now lost defensive walls, and east of the former Moorfields; a part of the city that is often described as part of the East End of London. The original developer was Rosehaugh: it was built by a Bovis / Tarmac Construction joint venture and was the largest office development in London until the arrival of Canary Wharf in the early 1990s. Horizon Building
The Horizon Building was a former cigarette-making factory on a 45-acre site at the Lenton Industrial Estate in Nottingham, built for Player's, which was designed by the architect Peter Foggo for Arup Associates, opened in 1972, and won the Financial Times Architecture Award for 1973. It is now owned by Imperial Tobacco. In 2015 it looked likely to be rejected for listing, meaning that it would probably be demolished. When the factory closed in March 2016 it was England's last remaining cigarette factory. Demolition was substantially complete by August 2019. Lenton, Nottingham
Lenton is an area of the City of Nottingham, in the county of Nottinghamshire, England. Most of Lenton is situated in the electoral ward of 'Dunkirk and Lenton', with a small part in 'Wollaton East and Lenton Park'. Originally a separate agricultural village, Lenton became part of the town of Nottingham in 1877, when the town's boundaries were enlarged. John Player & Sons, most often known simply as Player's, was a tobacco and cigarette manufacturer based in Nottingham, England. In 1901, the company merged with other companies to form The Imperial Tobacco Company to face competition from US manufacturers.
