Peter Broggs
Henry James (3 July 1952 – 19 December 2015), better known as Peter Broggs, was a Jamaican roots reggae vocalist and songwriter. Life Born in 1952 in Hanover Parish, Jamaica, in the early 1970s, Broggs moved to Kingston, Jamaica, Kingston to seek out business opportunities. Broggs' debut album ''Progressive Youth'', was released in 1979 on the UK Greensleeves label. The song "Jah Golden Throne" was recorded at the Channel One Studios and King Tubby studios then released in the UK on the short-lived Selena imprint in 1980. His ''Rastafari Liveth!'' album was the first release on RAS Records in 1982. On his 1990 album ''Reasoning'', Broggs was backed by The Wailers and Roots Radics. In 2000 he released ''Jah Golden Throne'', a collaboration with Jah Warrior. Hanover Parish
Hanover is a parish located on the northwestern tip of the island of Jamaica. It is a part of the county of Cornwall, bordered by St. James in the east and Westmoreland in the south. With the exception of Kingston, it is the smallest parish on the island. Hanover is the birth parish of Alexander Bustamante, labour leader, first head of government of Jamaica under universal suffrage, and one of seven Jamaican National Heroes. Its capital is Lucea. Jah Warrior
Jah Warrior is a United Kingdom roots reggae/ dub production team, record label, sound system, and musical group centred on Steve Mosco. Overview Mosco first got interested in reggae as a teenager in Manchester. He started attending sound system events in Moss Side and Hulme, before travelling further afield, experiencing the likes of Jah Shaka. In 1981 he moved to London and was invited by Tim Westwood to do a reggae show on a pirate station called LWR. He also worked as a selector on the ''Humble Lion'' sound system, which in 1987 was renamed ''Jah Warrior''. In 1990 he put out an album called ''Warrior Dub'' under the name Zulu Warriors. In 1995 he started the Jah Warrior record label, the first release being "The 22nd Book" by Naph-Tali, followed by the album ''One of These Days''. Since 1999, he has concentrated on production. Stroke
A stroke is a medical condition in which poor blood flow to the brain causes cell death. There are two main types of stroke: ischemic, due to lack of blood flow, and hemorrhagic, due to bleeding. Both cause parts of the brain to stop functioning properly. Reggae
Reggae () is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its diaspora. A 1968 single by Toots and the Maytals, " Do the Reggay" was the first popular song to use the word "reggae", effectively naming the genre and introducing it to a global audience. While sometimes used in a broad sense to refer to most types of popular Jamaican dance music, the term ''reggae'' more properly denotes a particular music style that was strongly influenced by traditional mento as well as American jazz and rhythm and blues, and evolved out of the earlier genres ska and rocksteady. Roots Radics
The Roots Radics Band was formed in 1978 by bass player Errol "Flabba" Holt, guitarist Eric "Bingy Bunny" Lamont and drummer Lincoln "Style" Scott. They were joined by many musicians, including guitarist Noel "Sowell" Bailey, Dwight Pinkney and Steve Golding, keyboard player Wycliffe "Steelie" Johnson, Pianist Gladstone "Gladdy" Anderson and saxophonist Headley Bennett. As a combined force the Roots Radics became a well-respected studio and stage band, which dominated the sound in the first half of the 1980s. In addition to their own catalogue, they have worked with artists such as Bunny Wailer, Gregory Isaacs, Michael Prophet, Eek-A-Mouse, and Israel Vibration. In 1979, the band recorded the riddims for Barrington Levy's first songs for producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes, credited at the time as the Channel One Stars.
