''Spider-Man: Far From Home'' is a 2019 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is the sequel to '' Spider-Man: Homecoming'' (2017) and the 23rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Jon Watts, written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, alongside Samuel L. Jonathan Watts (born June 28, 1981) is an American filmmaker. His credits include directing the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) superhero films '' Spider-Man: Homecoming'', '' Spider-Man: Far From Home'', and '' Spider-Man: No Way Home''. He was additionally signed to direct the upcoming Marvel Studios-produced ''Fantastic Four'' film only to exit the project in April 2022. He also directed and co-wrote the horror film ''Clown'' and thriller film '' Cop Car'' as well as directing numerous episodes of the parody television news series ''Onion News Network''.
