Pete Gill
Peter Gill (born 9 June 1951) is an English former heavy metal drummer, formerly a member of The Glitter Band, Saxon and Motörhead. Gill was one of the two drummers in The Glitter Band, then formed part of the original line-up of Saxon in 1978. He stayed with them until 1981, recording their first four albums, leaving the band after he injured his hand. Gill later spent three years with Motörhead, 1984 to 1987, recording four new tracks for the compilation '' No Remorse'', '' The Birthday Party'' and one full album, '' Orgasmatron''. The band also toured extensively in the time Gill was a member. After years of absence Gill reunited with his former Saxon colleagues in a new band, named Son of a Bitch with bassist Steve Dawson and guitarist Graham Oliver. Gill stayed briefly in the band, recording only one album called ''Victim You'' in 1996. ''Saxon'' is the debut studio album by English heavy metal band Saxon, released in 1979. Reception Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic gave the album three stars out of five, and, in his mixed review, described it as "the quiet before the storm", in terms of the band's subsequent success, and the rising New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Rivadavia also criticized the band's then-lack of experience in the studio as well as their record label, Carrere, for not knowing "how to capture a heavy metal sound on tape", meaning that the album "only hints at Saxon's true personality, power, and songwriting potential". Motörhead Members
Motörhead () were an English Rock music, rock band formed in London in 1975 by Lemmy (lead vocals, bass), Larry Wallis (guitar) and Lucas Fox (drums). Lemmy was also the primary songwriter and only constant member. The band are often considered a precursor to the new wave of British heavy metal, which re-energised heavy metal music, heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The album was certified Gold status in the U.K. This was the last album with the classic line up of Saxon, as drummer Pete Gill would leave the band due to a hand injury, later joining Motörhead; this was also seen as the last of their triptych of classic albums (the previous two being ''Wheels of Steel'' and ''Strong Arm of the Law''). ''Strong Arm of The Law'' is the third studio album by English heavy metal band Saxon. It was released in 1980, seven months after ''Wheels of Steel'', and debuted on the UK chart at #11. The last track, "Dallas 1 PM" concerns the assassination of John F. Kennedy. "We thought, 'Should we put one shot in there or should we put three?'" recalled singer Biff Byford. "In the end we went down the conspiracy theory route and had three shots." According to guitarist Graham Oliver, the title track was inspired by an incident where the band was driving in Whitehall and was subsequently pulled over and searched by the security detail of then British prime minister, Margaret Thatcher. ''Wheels of Steel'' is the second studio album by English heavy metal band Saxon. Released in 1980, it was their first album to enter the UK Albums Chart, peaking at number 5, and is their highest-charting album in the UK Albums Chart to date. The album eventually went on to achieve gold status in the UK. Song notes "747 (Strangers in the Night)" is about a power cut that forced planes in New York to remain in ascent in 1965 with the power outage provoking a Scandinavian flight to detour to Kennedy airport in the dark. Victim You
''Victim You'' is the first studio album recorded by three of the original founding members of the British heavy metal band Saxon, Graham Oliver, Steve Dawson and Pete Gill, after their departure from Saxon. The album was recorded under Saxon's original UK club band name Son of a Bitch. The songs were written by the band which also included guitarist Haydn Conway and Ted Bullet, former front man of the German band Thunderhead. The recordings were digitally captured at Revolution Studios in Manchester and later Mastered in Germany. The tracks were released on SYME Music Publishing's own label Hengest Records, which licensed the recordings worldwide to various labels. In particular, on the JVC Records Japanese release, there featured one extra track which was not released anywhere else.
