Perspective (EP)
''Perspective'' is the second EP by British progressive metal band Tesseract, released on 21 May 2012. The EP is not a metal record, instead it consists of new renditions of four songs from ''One'': a newly edited version of "Eden" called "Eden 2.0" and acoustic versions of the songs "Perfection," "April," and "Origin." It also includes a cover of Jeff Buckley's "Dream Brother". It is the band's first and only release with vocalist Elliot Coleman, who left the band in June 2012, mere weeks after the release of Perspective. The cover is similar to that of the band's album ''One'', but whereas the tesseract on the cover of that album is grey, the featured tesseract on ''Perspective'' is blue and with an ethereal background. The EP has a special edition on iTunes where there is an instrumental version of each song. Tesseract (band)
Tesseract (often stylized as TesseracT) are an English progressive metal band from Milton Keynes. The band, formed in 2003, consists of Daniel Tompkins (lead vocals), Alec "Acle" Kahney (lead guitar and producer), James Monteith (rhythm guitar), Amos Williams (bass, backing vocals) and Jay Postones (drums, percussion). The band is currently signed to Kscope. They are credited as one of the bands to pioneer the djent movement in progressive metal. Tesseract
In geometry, a tesseract is the four-dimensional analogue of the cube; the tesseract is to the cube as the cube is to the square. Just as the surface of the cube consists of six square faces, the hypersurface of the tesseract consists of eight cubical cells. The tesseract is one of the six convex regular 4-polytopes. Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is usually held flat against the player's body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand, while simultaneously pressing selected strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand. Electric Guitar
An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist). It uses one or more pickups to convert the vibration of its strings into electrical signals, which ultimately are reproduced as sound by loudspeakers. The sound is sometimes shaped or electronically altered to achieve different timbres or tonal qualities on the amplifier settings or the knobs on the guitar from that of an acoustic guitar. Matt Johnson (drummer)
Matt Johnson (born 6 November 1970 in Houston, Texas ) is an American drummer who played in the band of Jeff Buckley, appearing and co-writing one song on his album ''Grace'' in 1994, as well as on subsequent live releases and EPs. Although he stopped playing with Buckley before recording began on what was to become the singer's final original album (released posthumously as ''Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk''), Johnson shares writing credits for one of its tracks. Matt Johnson has also performed and recorded with Duncan Sheik, Elysian Fields, Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Gabriel Kahane, Dean Wareham, Britta Phillips, Beth Orton, David Poe, Theo Eastwind and Jade Bird. Mick Grøndahl (often spelled Grondahl) (born 7 May 1968) is a Danish-American bass guitarist. Born in Copenhagen, he was raised in Manhattan, New York with his mother and grandmother, Vava. He is widely known for playing bass guitar and composing on Jeff Buckley's debut album, ''Grace''. Dream Brother
"Dream Brother" is the last track on the original release of Jeff Buckley's album ''Grace (Jeff Buckley album), Grace'', the penultimate on later releases of the album. Written by Buckley, bassist Mick Grøndahl and drummer Matt Johnson (drummer), Matt Johnson, it was written as an urge for a friend of his, Chris Dowd of Fishbone fame, to not to walk out on his pregnant girlfriend in a similar way to Buckley's own father, Tim Buckley, as evidenced in the verses, "Don't be like the one who made me so old/Don't be like the one who left behind his name/'Cause they're waiting for you like I waited for mine/And nobody ever came". Progressive Rock
