Perfect Harmony (musical)
''Perfect Harmony'' is an ''a cappella'' musical comedy by Andrew Grosso and The Essentials for Perfect Harmony. A cappella vocal arrangements for ''Perfect Harmony'' are by Adam Wachter, with additional arrangements by Ray Bailey and Jeremy Gussin. Bailey and Wachter provided arrangements for the Off-Broadway production. The work premiered at the 2006 New York International Fringe Festival where it had an extended run in the Fringe Encore Series before it opened Off-Off Broadway in 2008. Its Off-Broadway introduction came in an October 2010 opening. "How Can I Keep From Singing?" (also known by its first line "My Life Flows On in Endless Song") is an American folksong originating as a Christian hymn. The author of the lyrics was known only as 'Pauline T', and the original tune was composed by American Baptist minister Robert Lowry. The song is frequently, though erroneously, cited as a traditional Quaker or Shaker hymn. The original composition has now entered into the public domain, and appears in several hymnals and song collections, both in its original form and with a revised text that omits most of the explicitly Christian content and adds a verse about solidarity in the face of oppression. Though it was not originally a Quaker hymn, Quakers adopted it as their own in the twentieth century and use it widely today. Kobi Libii is an American comedian and actor from Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a cast member on ''the Opposition with Jordan Klepper'', a news satire television series that aired on Comedy Central. On the show, Libii was billed as a "citizen journalist". Other television series in which he has appeared include ''Doubt'', ''Transparent'', ''Girls'', and '' Madam Secretary''. Jock (stereotype)
In the United States and Canada, a jock is a stereotype of an athlete, or someone who is primarily interested in sports and sports culture, and does not take much interest in intellectual activity. It is generally applied mostly to high school and college athletics participants who form a distinct youth subculture. As a blanket term, ''jock'' can be considered synonymous with ''athlete''. Jocks are usually presented as male practitioners of team sports such as American football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and Ice hockey. Similar words that may mean the same as ''jock'' in North America include ''meathead,'' ''musclebrain,'' and ''musclehead.'' A pitch pipe is a small device used to provide a pitch reference for musicians. Although it may be described as a musical instrument, it is not typically used to play music as such. Technically, it is a harmonica; however, it lacks many characteristics of harmonicas. Origins The earliest pitch pipes were instruments rather like a recorder, but rather than finger holes, they had a plunger like a slide whistle's (also known as a ''swanee whistle''). The pipe was generally made of wood with a square bore, and the plunger was leather-coated. On this plunger are marked the notes of either the chromatic scale or the diatonic scale, and by setting it to the correct position, the indicated note will be produced when the instrument is blown.
