Abraham Pereyra (Abraham Israel Pereyra, also Pereira) was a wealthy and prominent Portuguese Jewish merchant, who lived in Amsterdam from ''circa'' 1644 to his death in 1699. Life and Work Cecil Roth, following Kayserling, says Abraham Pereyra was born in Madrid "of Marrano parentage." The respected founder of the modern academic field of historical studies on the Kabbalah in Jerusalem, Gershom Scholem, following Avraham Ya'ari, articulated his origins and importance in the following manner: :..."a descendant of a family of marranos in Madrid and one of the wealthiest industrialists and merchant princes in Holland. Guillermo Ariel Pereyra (born 20 February 1980) is an Argentine retired footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He spent most of his 13-year professional career with River Plate and Mallorca, winning four major titles with the former and appearing in 129 competitive games with the latter. Luis Pereyra (born 9 July 1965) is a dancer and choreographer of Tango Argentino and Argentinian folk dances. Life Luis Pereyra was born to a humble working-class family, in the province of Santiago del Estero. At the age of five he danced in folk dancing groups. At the age of eleven he made his first professional appearance as a member of the ballet Argentino directed by Mario Machaco and Norma Ré. He made his first appearance on stage at the legendary Caño 14, where the famous bandoneón player Aníbal Troilo appeared at the same time. Alfonso Darío Pereyra Bueno (born 19 October 1956) is a Uruguayan former football player. Having played as a midfielder for Club Nacional de Football in his home country, he reached stardom playing for São Paulo FC as a centre-back along with Oscar. He is still remembered and revered as one of the best centre-backs in the history of Brazilian football. Gabriel Ernesto Pereyra Vázquez (born February 28, 1978) is an Argentine professional football coach and former player. Pereyra played with River Plate until getting transferred to Cruz Azul in 2005. Luciano Ariel Pereyra (born September 21, 1981) is an Argentine singer. Biography In 1984, when he was three years old, his parents noticed his talent for music and gave him a guitar for Christmas. The following year, he competed in a television program on ATC. At the age of 9, he participated in '' Festilindo'', a program for children performing. Juan Pablo Pereyra (born 30 May 1984 in San Lorenzo) is an Argentine football midfielder or forward. Career Pereyra made his playing debut in 2006 for El Linqueño in the regionalised 4th division of Argentine football. María Cristina Pereyra (born 1964) is a Venezuelan mathematician. She is a professor of mathematics and statistics at the University of New Mexico, and the author of several books on wavelets and harmonic analysis. Education and employment Pereyra was a member of the Venezuelan team for the 1981 and 1982 International Mathematical Olympiads. She earned a licenciado (the equivalent of a bachelor's degree) in mathematics in 1986 from the Central University of Venezuela.
