Pereval
''The Pass'' (russian: Перевал, translit=Pereval, italic=yes) is a 1988 Soviet animated short film, directed by Vladimir Tarasov and written by Kir Bulychov. It is adapted from the first chapter titled ''The Pass'' from Bulychyov's novel ''The Settlement'' (printed in English as ''Those Who Survive''). Plot On a distant, snow-covered planet, a starship from Earth crashes. Due to dangerous radiation levels, the survivors have to evacuate far away. Over years, the radiation levels go down but all attempting to return to the ship die when crossing a treacherous mountain pass, due to a combination of the elements and wild animals who come out at night. Finally, when only a few survivors are left, their teenaged children - all who were born on the world - and one of the adults decide to try to reach the ship one last time, to gain needed supplies and set off a beacon that would summon a rescue mission. Kir Bulychov
Kir Bulychev (russian: Кир Булычёв [Kir Bulychyov]; 18 October 1934 – 5 September 2003) is a pen name of Igor Vsevolodovich Mozheiko (И́горь Все́володович Може́йко), a USSR, Soviet Russian science fiction writer, critic, translator and historian. His Masterpiece, magnum opus is a children's science fiction series ''Alisa Selezneva'', although most of his books are adult-oriented. His books were adapted for film, TV and animation over 20 times – more than any other Russian science fiction author – and Bulychev himself wrote scripts for early adaptations. Biography Mozheiko (Mojeiko) received a Master's degree in 1965 and a Ph.D. in 1981. From 1963 he worked in the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He was a specialist in the medieval history of Burma, and wrote a biography of Aung San. Vladimir Tarasov
Vladimir Ilich Tarasov (russian: Владимир Ильич Тарасов; born 7 February 1939 in Moscow) is a Russian animator and animation director. He is best known for his Soviet-era science fiction short films, such as ''The Pass, Contact'' and ''Contract'', among others. Biography He studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute (Moscow Fine Art and Design University) from 1965 until 1970. Since 1957 he worked at the studio Soyuzmultfilm first as an animator and then as an art director with V. Y. Bordzilovsky, M. A. Botov and V. D. Degtyaryov and then from 1970 till 1991 as the director. He is one of the founders of ''"Studio 13"'' and worked there as a director during the period 1991–1994. He was also an organizer and founder of the film schools iZee Institute of Creative Art(ZICA) in India (also a teacher and director in the period from 1995 to 1999) and Tarbiat Modares University in Iran from 2000 till 2004.
