Percy Charles Wyndham (27 September 1757 – 5 August 1833)''The Register of Births & Baptisms in the Parish of St James within the Liberty of Westminster Vol. IV. 1741-1760''. 2 November 1757. was an English politician. He was the second son of Charles Wyndham, 2nd Earl of Egremont and Alicia Maria, daughter of the 2nd Baron Carpenter, and brother of Hon. Charles William Wyndham. He was educated at Westminster School from 1765 to 1774, and then at Christ Church, Oxford in 1774. Wyndam was a Member of Parliament (MP) for the borough of Chichester from 1782 to 1784, when he lost his seat due to his support for Charles James Fox. At the 1790 election his older brother the 3rd Earl of Egremont returned both Percy and Charles as MPs for his pocket borough of Midhurst. Percy Wyndham (soldier)
Colonel Percy Wyndham (22 September 1833 – 27 January 1879) was an English soldier and adventurer who served in the armed forces of several countries and saw active service during the Italian Risorgimento and the American Civil War. Life Wyndham claimed to be the son of Colonel Charles Wyndham, a regular soldier who served in various Light Dragoon regiments of the British Army and was an ADC to the Duke of Wellington before becoming Lieutenant Colonel of the 36th Regiment of Foot. Wyndham had been born in 1833 on board the ship ''Arab'' in the Downs. Percy Scawen Wyndham DL JP MP (30 January 1835 – 13 March 1911) was a British soldier, Conservative Party politician, collector and intellectual. He was one of the original members of The Souls, and built Clouds House at East Knoyle, Wiltshire. Background and education Wyndham was a younger son of George Wyndham, 1st Baron Leconfield, and his wife Mary Fanny Blunt, daughter of the Reverend William Blunt, and was educated at Eton. He served in the Coldstream Guards and achieved the rank of captain. Political career In 1860, Wyndham was returned to Parliament as one of two representatives for Cumberland West (succeeding his uncle Sir Henry Wyndham), a seat he held until 1885. He was also a Deputy Lieutenant and Justice of the Peace for Sussex. He owned the Wiltshire manor of Pertwood from 1877 until his death, and he became a member of Wiltshire County Council and was High Sheriff of Wiltshire for 1896. Percy Wyndham-O'Brien, 1st Earl of Thomond (c. 1713–1774) was a British Member of Parliament and an Irish peer. Origins He was the younger of the two sons of Tory statesman Sir William Wyndham, 3rd Baronet (c.1688–1740) of Orchard Wyndham, Somerset, Secretary at War in 1712, Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1713 and Tory leader in the House of Commons during the reign of King George I (1714–1727) and during the early years of King George II (1727–1760).
