The Per Wendel Award (''Per Wendel-priset'') is a Swedish award given to a journalist by the newspaper ''Expressen''. The award money sum is 75,000 (SEK). The award is given annually in the memory of Swedish journalist Per Wendel (1947-2005) who worked for ''Expressen'' from 1973 primarily as a domestic policy reporter. Expressen
''Expressen'' (''The Express'') is one of two nationwide evening newspapers in Sweden, the other being '' Aftonbladet''. ''Expressen'' was founded in 1944; its symbol is a wasp and its slogans are "it stings" or "''Expressen'' to your rescue". Overview The first edition of ''Expressen'' was published on 16 November 1944. A main feature that day was an interview with the crew members of a British bomber who were successful in sinking the German ship ''Tirpitz''. A project of Albert Bonnier Jr., Carl-Adam Nycop, and Ivar Harrie – who was to become the first editor-in-chief – Expressen was created in part to push back against "national socialism and related violent ideologies." The paper is owned by the Bonnier Group. As of 2005, the paper had a liberal stance, but it declared its independent leaning in 1995. Per Wendel
Per Wendel, (28 January 1947 - 10 October 2005) was a Swedish journalist. He worked for the Expressen newspaper from 1973 until his death. Wendel was the main investigative journalist who told about the Ebbe Carlsson affair, which forced the then justice-minister Anna-Greta Leijon to resign. Jan Eric Gustaf Mosander (born 13 August 1944) is a Swedish journalist and author. Biography Mosander was born in Stockholm and grew up in Helsinki, Finland. In Finland he worked as a reporter for the newspapers ''Västa Nyland'' in Ekenäs and ''Nya Pressen'' in Helsinki. In 1968, he had moved to Sweden and worked as a reporter for ''Expressen'' in Stockholm. He was a foreign correspondent in Germany for ''Expressen'' between 1970 and 1973, and for Sveriges Radio between 1994 and 1997. He has won Stora journalistpriset in 1987.
