Pepe Guízar
José Guízar Morfín, better known as Pepe Guízar (February 12, 1906 – 27 September 1980), was a Mexican composer, poet and musician. He composed the song " Guadalajara", a popular mariachi song. His tune, "A Poco No", can be heard in the 1941 film, '' Citizen Kane''. Biography Pepe Guízar was the son of Luis Guízar Valencia and Maria Morfín. His early studies were done in the Don Atilano Zavala School and Instituto de Ciencias de Jalisco. In 1928 he moved to Mexico City and entered the National Preparatory School. Later was the first three years of law degree from the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences. He also studied music and recitation at the National Conservatory being started in music and piano by maestro J. Jesus Estrada. Professor Erasmo Castellanos Quinto infected him with a taste for poetry. Guadalajara (song)
"Guadalajara" is a well-known mariachi song written and composed by Pepe Guízar in 1937. Guízar wrote the song in honor of his hometown, the city of the same name and state capital of the Mexican state of Jalisco. Versions The song was first popularized by Lucha Reyes, a Mexican singer who was born in Guadalajara and is often regarded as the "mother of ranchera music". In the 1940s, Mexican singer Irma Vila recorded the song and sang it in the musical film '' Canta y no llores...'' (1949). Her rendition was later remastered and released in the compilation album ''Irma Vila, La Reina del Falsete: Todos sus éxitos''. In 1950, Mexican singer Flor Silvestre recorded the song for Columbia Records; her version also became a success and was included in several compilation albums, including ''Canciones mexicanas, vol. 1'', ''Fandango ranchero'', and '' Flor Silvestre canta sus éxitos'' (1964). Orson Welles
George Orson Welles (May 6, 1915 – October 10, 1985) was an American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter, known for his innovative work in film, radio and theatre. The ''Citizen Kane'' trailer is a four-minute, self-contained, "making of" promotional featurette by Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre, released in 1940 to promote the film ''Citizen Kane''. Unlike other standard theatrical trailers of the era, it did not feature any footage of the actual film itself, but was a wholly original pseudo-documentary piece. It is considered by numerous film scholars such as Simon Callow, Joseph McBride and Jonathan Rosenbaum to be a standalone short film, rather than a conventional "trailer", and to represent an important stage in the development of Welles's directorial style. Panteón Jardín
Panteón Jardín ("Garden Cemetery") is a cemetery in Mexico City in which several notable people are interred. It is located in the southwest of the city, between the San Ángel and Olivar de los Padres boroughs. It is a garden cemetery, built in what used to be the outskirts of the city in the 1930s. It's wide central boulevard leads to a small hill in the back. It's near 150 acres are used mostly for Catholic burials, but has a special section for Jewish ones, called ''La Fraternidad'' (The Fraternity). Since 1946, another section belongs to the National Association of Actors (National Association of Actors), used mainly for actors and actresses. It has a capacity of 85,000 graves.
