Penny Low
Penny Low ( zh, s=刘钅梦琳, p=Liú Mènglín; ) is a Singaporean serial entrepreneur and former politician. A member of the People's Action Party (PAP), she was the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC for Punggol North from 25 October 2001 to 11 September 2015. She pioneered various movements and founded various enterprises and not-profit organisations like the Social Innovation Park and the Social Enterprise Association. Career From 1990 to 1993, Low worked at the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) as a producer. She became a hitch hiker and travelled the world before returning to freelance as a producer. She worked as a financial Consultant and trainer since 1995, and anchored a television program on financial management and wealth planning. Low also worked as an adjunct lecturer for S'pore Institute of Management-Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Horasis is an independent, international think tank, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Founded in 2005, by Frank-Jürgen Richter, former director of the World Economic Forum, Horasis is dedicated to the innovation and development of sustainable emerging markets. Singaporean General Election, 2001
General elections were held in Singapore on 3 November 2001. President S.R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 18 October 2001 on the advice of Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong. The ruling People's Action Party (PAP) won 82 of the 84 elected seats in Parliament. Due to the large number (51) of uncontested seats, only 675,306 of the 2,036,923 eligible voters (33.2%) had an opportunity to vote. As of the recent election in 2020, this was the most recent, and fourth overall (third consecutive) election PAP returned to power on nomination day with a majority of uncontested walkovers. This election marked the first time that total eligible voter population exceeded the 2 million mark. People's, branded as ''People's Viennaline'' until May 2018, and legally ''Altenrhein Luftfahrt GmbH'', is an Austrian airline headquartered in Vienna. It operates scheduled and charter passenger flights mainly from its base at St. Gallen-Altenrhein Airport in Switzerland. The Pasir Ris–Punggol Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the north-eastern region of Singapore. The constituency currently consists of Pasir Ris and parts of the Punggol town area. Aline Wong
Aline Wong (born Kan Lai Chung, in 1941) is a Singaporean sociologist and former politician. She was one of the first women Parliament members in Singapore, elected in 1984. She went on to have a career in both politics and education. In 2001, she retired from politics, but continued to be active in the community and in education. In 2015, she became the first woman in Singapore to hold the position of chancellor, working at SIM University. Biography Wong was born in Hong Kong in 1941. Wong studied sociology and worked on issues involving the way Singapore's families were changing and how women were becoming involved in different areas of culture and the economy.
