Pennine Cycleway
The Pennine Cycleway is a Sustrans-sponsored route in the Pennines range in northern England, an area often called the "Vertebral column, backbone of England". The route passes through the counties of Derbyshire, West Yorkshire, Lancashire, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Northumberland. It is part of the National Cycle Network (NCN). Sustrans founder John Grimshaw calls it 'the best National Cycle Network route of the lot'. The majority of the route follows NCN 68. It also makes use of several other NCN routes including National Cycle Route 6, 6, National Cycle Route 54, 54, National Cycle Route 62, 62, National Cycle Route 70, 70, National Cycle Route 7, 7, National Cycle Route 72, 72 and National Cycle Route 1, 1. Derbyshire
Derbyshire ( ) is a ceremonial county in the East Midlands, England. It includes much of the Peak District National Park, the southern end of the Pennine range of hills and part of the National Forest. It borders Greater Manchester to the north-west, West Yorkshire to the north, South Yorkshire to the north-east, Nottinghamshire to the east, Leicestershire to the south-east, Staffordshire to the west and south-west and Cheshire to the west.
